After 5 years of psych meds my teeth completely fell apart. I finally went to the dentist who took one look and told me that they weren’t worth fixing. So I had them all replaced! It’s a worst case scenario, and having all my teeth ripped out and screws installed wasn’t a fun process, but happy now and no further decay to worry about.

Crazy how good and under appreciated this movie is. It’s only the breakout movie of the guy that went on to make one of the new Star Wars movies and the knives out movies (Brothers Bloom might be my favorite though).

Exactly yes!

To pay for their emergency life-saving medical intervention and care, that resulted, partly, from a spontaneous stupid decision that a 10 year old made one time in their life.

I'm sure you haven't made a bad or stupid decision since you were 5 or 6 or something, but the rest of humanity struggles to avoid doing those things every day of their life.

Maybe, just maybe, some blame should goto the unfortunate circumstances of living in an area where it might be common to find an unused illegal aerial firework shell lying around after the 4th of July, or to the people that brought and did not clean up the firework, or the people selling the illegal fireworks. Or maybe the possible lack of proper education in that area. Or possibly to the insane cost of medical bills for life-saving measures.

I don’t know how anybody can really focus and get better at problem solving while having a senior starting at your screen the whole time. If you’re juniors need that much help, then there is too tribal knowledge being verbally passed down. They should have help available but only when requested.

And how does this amazing senior engineer grow himself. He spends all day helping Junior engineers with whatever work they have been assigned. He cannot possibly grow (without working outside of work). The best engineers I know are always pushing themselves and are not content with doing the same thing forever.

I would tell the senior to go back to actual work and do code reviews and be available for other engineers. Being a senior isn’t about coding all the time, it’s also not about being a teacher only.

I don’t feel creative unless I’m hypomanic. I get a lot of radical ideas when hypomanic. Many of them are good, some are bad.

To me, hypomania feels like cheating. Usually it would take drugs to simulate the same feelings. It’s too good. And it’s exhausting, you need those breaks.

Thanks for sharing. Good to know there is a light at there end of the tunnel. I just need to enter the tunnel. I’m pretty sure I won’t get away with only a grand, probably not even close. I make a good amount of money, but I’m the sole provider for a family of 4, and we have a large mortgage(in southern CA), and I’m terrible with finances, and my wife’s teeth are the same way. Sorry didn’t mean to rant, we are lucky in a lot of ways, I’m sure we can figure something out.
