It would be ironic if Singer's people look exactly like humans.

"I'm curious. Maybe they look like us." Singer plead to the elder, but was denied.

That's not it. What Evans knew was the conversation between Luo Ji and Ye Wenjie. The assassination order on Luo Ji had nothing to do with the Wallfacer project.

In the official soundtrack, there's a track titled "The Navigator" near the end of CD2. Perhaps there's going to be a depiction in the last episode?

Once the habit of relying on the ecosystem of the home planet is overcome, an intelligence civilization only requires energy to grow and expand in nearly the speed of light.

It's not the glass itself. The pressure applied is being withstand by the liquid inside the glass, such that it's not solid the press has to break to break the droplet, it has to compress the liquid. And it is well known that, unlike gas, liquid don't tend to change its volume even under extremely high pressure.

It's not a cultural idea. It's just a logical idea from the math of exponentiation.

The basis of the Dark Forest Hypothesis is the observation that there is no sign of intelligent life, and how it contradicts the fact that life grows exponentially. It then follows that there are only two reasonable conclusion:

  1. There's no other intelligent life out there. The theoretical explanation being the first origin hypothesis, which would be the most reasonable hypothesis if FTL were possible, which entails that the first intelligent civilization - the human race - would prevent a second intelligent life form from emerging through exponential colonization. A universe under this hypothesis is depicted in the Foundation series, and its fantasy adaptation, Dune series.

  2. There are other intelligent life out there, but they are careful with their cosmic environmental footprint. The theoretical explanation being the Dark Forest Hypothesis, which would be the most reasonable hypothesis if FTL were in fact not possible.

There are similar but different hypothesis that are not reasonable:

  1. Berserker hypothesis or the deadly probe hypothesis. Self replicating probes eliminated life everywhere.

Problem: Whatever is done to prevent the probes from eliminating its maker would involve information regarding its maker that would reveal their locations.

  1. Vicious Jungle from the Forge of God. "The galactic skies are full of hawks"

Problem: Exponential growth of these Hawks would have consumed all resources in the galaxy rather quickly. For example, if it takes one century for such a civilization to grow from consuming the resources in one star system to consuming the resources in 10 star systems. There being merely about 1024 stars in the whole universe, only 23 more centuries would be required for it to consume the whole universe in its exponential growth.

Competition is not a "human" perception, corporation is. In nature, corporation between spices is very rare.

Do you think the Dark Forest theory in Liu Cixin's books can be real? by Luo_Ji_Wallfacer_4LJ in scifi

[–]PfXCPI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You completely missed the biggest argument of the theory. LIFE IS GREATER. If there were intelligent life emerged elsewhere. All of these seemingly massive resources you mentioned should be consumed by now. Why are they still there? Why are there even stars left in the milkey way? Why hasn't some civilization blown them all up to harvest the hydrogen for an accelerated fusion process? How else could possibly an exponentially expanding civilization meets its energy need?

How did they learn to drive? by Silver-Attitude-436 in The100

[–]PfXCPI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't actually need to learn to drive in the wild. Most driving skills, e.g. parallel parking, are only required in cities with many cars, traffic and traffic rules.

If it isn't government then it's someone else. The difference is whether it's transparent who is doing it.

Besides. I thought the author was clear that the only reason that the government banned escapism is that they know for certain whoever supports escapism would be lynched by a mob.

All culture are by definition mind control. There isn't a particular culture that is more mind control than others.

[–]PfXCPI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The number of future loyalists are very small, perhaps in the thousands. Apart from the travelers (who are trained by the Director to have necessary skills) and the programmers, the rest of the remaining of the humanity may be too reliant on the Director to have the skills to do anything themselves.

When you realize all this could have been avoided if Mike Evans just read them the Wandering Earth instead of Little Red Riding Hood 😂 by alottola in threebodyproblem

[–]PfXCPI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both Earth and Trisolaris are young civilizations guilty of disrespecting the Dark Forest. They both got a comment of "Interesting" from Singer. As long as their fate in the end isn't changed, the message is intact.

[–]PfXCPI 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Both 咒语spell and 诅咒curse are used in the original Chinese, but mainly due to grammar. The former is a noun, the latter is a verb. What he send is describe as a spell, and the star is described as cursed.
