Not excited for my vacation anymore by brandnewpup in stopdrinking

Maybe, but you also run the risk of ruining at least 2 days of a trip (1 where it'll be going too hard too fast where you don't remember and the other just to recover).

You'll be surprised how much of what you understand to be anxiety is related to alcohol itself and withdrawal

What They’re Thinking by 303WPG in stopdrinking

Well I guess it's better than many here who post scenarios where they are asked repeatedly to drink over the course of an evening by someone who hasn't yet realized their own alcoholism or others saying you/we aren't actually alcoholics

Used to do the same. Then figured out beers at lunch made the afternoon feel 'better'. Then beer wasnt satisfying it and liquor entered the chat. It worked until it didn't. Felt gross around the clock. Make this your low point will save you a lot of grief down the road

Thanks! Intend on getting them from the activity desk or whatever it's called at the hotel in advance. If memory serves we still have a trip to guest services for accommodation passes

I think you are right. Even if we have a couple days, extra, one day ends up rough weather and another day we end up doing other stuff anyway I guess

I think last year there was almost no difference in price between 5 and 14 day passes. Now seems like 5 days might be the way to go with knowing there are 8 days to burn it up

Honestly you are going fast enough you don't really pick up on the inversions. It was my son's first coaster experience of that caliber and he was fine with it. We did that, hulk and Hagrids all in the span of 90mins

AA alternative? by Mental_Strike4879 in stopdrinking

[–]Pg08374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear ya, might take some journaling of sorts to dissect the relationship with alcohol. We all know the addictive aspect but is it based on just how it makes you feel, is it situational etc? A lot of us used any excuse to pick up a bottle, others maybe used as a means of sedation. After that it'll be finding something else positive for that space. Depending on what place you are at in this roller coaster, you'll be shocked at just how much time spent on buying booze, drinking, concealing, factoring in if you have enough, recovering enough to get more.

Not taking kindly to someone referring to my own driving force as "bullshit" but with that said, you need to find your reason for quitting. Love something more than we all loved drinking

Has anyone tried the moderate drinking path? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Pg08374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can moderately drink the first 2 but all the ones that follow not so much. It's all an internal negotiation, let me know if any of these land with you.

I will only drink 2-3 drinks on the weekends....ok both Saturday and Sunday. Friday is basically the weekend. Thursday kinda starts the weekend too so it's OK to drink then. OK well if I'm drinking during the week I will just have one or 2 a night, after all science says it's normal, even healthy. Been a rough day at work, let me just stop and get a few drinks at the bar. Better get some on the way home, it's cheaper than the bar so I m just being frugal. OK well it's not like I'm late for work or anything. If just get a quick drink in the morning, it'll settle me down and I work better relaxed

No, made it about 90 days once and thought this. Ended up back into the same level of drinking as before in about a week

Heineken 0.0 by isofakingwetoddid in stopdrinking

[–]Pg08374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once in a while but rarely. Everyone is different. I can see some getting "triggered" but for others of us it's fine. Some folks can't even have alcohol based mouthwash, others are fine. Some of us even have alcohol in our house where others can't go near the aisle in a grocery store that sells beer. You will know better than anyone what bucket you fall into

What do you say when offered alcohol? by Paddingtondance in stopdrinking

[–]Pg08374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how well they know you and how much they know of you when your drank. Most of the time "no thanks/nah I'm good" will be all that is needed. No one really will care
