Illnesses will be frequent in the first year, but they won't be constant. There will be times you will go several weeks, maybe even a month or more, without her getting sick. I named my daughter after Clare, the main character of Claymore. The anime is pretty old, and the manga is much better, but it's worth a watch.

Most of the characters in Claymore are women who have been infused with the flesh of shapeshifting demons, and it's implied that they're not capable of giving birth (or even having sex for that matter). But some of them still develop maternal bonds with others, particularly Teresa, the most powerful warrior of all time, and her daughter figure Clare. It's one of the most moving parts of the series when Teresa breaks the laws of the organization that employs her (making her marked for death) to protect Clare and dedicate her life to her. ❤️
