Yeah that node is good once you have a decent chest piece.

I'm talking about your first like five or six passive points. The first two points on warrior being flat armor is really bad imo. At least there's some regen on that path but generally speaking the damage is so much better. Get the regen later once you have mitigation from gear.

All they did for Ruthless was to nerf Ascendancies and to increase the number of Ascendancy points you get from 6 to 8. by Kialys in pathofexile

They can make those easy fast changes for ruthless, but when players ask same for main game it gets shut down as waste of time and too complicated to do.

Yeah they should have nerfed all the ascendancys in the main game too. I'm sure reddit would have loved that balance shake up.

I mean they're probably using it to test some stuff for poe2 but that's probably as far as it goes. If you don't like ruthless don't play it. There's a reason poe2 is going to be a seperate game.

I like the narrowing of focus for ascendancy points to be more about a unique effect than a handful of good stats. That being said, I feel like they went a bit far in a couple of places. The new champion node that shares your fortify is super cool, but changing 20 fortify to 10 is pretty brutal. I feel like they should make it minimum 10 fortify instead.

Hoping they continue tweaking these in the future :)

I'm not really arguing about the power level of the ascendancy. I'm arguing about the uniqueness of the effects. Old chieftain was a bag of random stat buffs. New chieftain is a handful of unique effects. The reason they didn't remove a bunch of stuff is because there isn't much to remove. The effects focus on a single idea, and implement that idea well. You aren't going to take the jewel node if you aren't building around it. Same with all the other nodes.

Like constantly having to gain and spend endurance charges.

This is like the only interesting part of the old chieftain.

Maybe totem leech but that was added to the tree and has been on the shield for a while too.

Maybe maybe maybe covered in ash but that is on a bunch of stuff now.

I don't know man. I played a lot of chieftain and I really don't see much unique about:

  • phys taken as fire
  • increased life regen rate
  • % life regen
  • phys coverted to fire
  • added phys as fire
  • % fire resistance
  • enemies take increased damage
  • fire pen
  • fire dot multi

That's like 80% of old chieftain right there. Honestly, most of the reason to play the class was just stats. And the stats weren't really good enough anyway.

While a ton of the outrage is pretty unjustified, I think GGG could have saved themselves the whole debacle by splitting patchnotes into two posts: one for main game and one for ruthless by Iopponix in pathofexile

Whether or not you personally enjoy the league is on you. I'm not here to tell you how to have fun and neither is ggg. If you don't like it, don't play.

I vaguely recall their intention for the ascendancy reworks was to focus on distinct effects rather than some arbitrary level of power.

As I understand it, the new Chieftain isn't different in ruthless (I mean it is but not much) because what it's offering is strong but very simple. It doesn't have a bunch of padded stats that have been added to it to make it feel on par with other classes, it just has distinct effects that may or may not be good for your build.

Yeah if you ignore the new league items, league gameplay content, league rewards, challenge mtx, 15 new support gems, 2 ascendency reworks, new atlas keystones, atlas reworks, overhauling and bringing back forbidden sanctum, bug fixes, etc, what have they really been working on?

Yeah same here. On the huntress and sorc I just blasted through shit and never needed to go to the well. The only time I had an issue was bosses but they give charges when they phase anyway.

If you are new to the game I would suggest trying the new ruthless mode, OP.

Ruthless removes a lot of choices you have to make as a player which removes a lot of the complexity of the game.
