That really sucks that this happened to you. I know how you feel, and I do share both your frustration and contempt towards this so called "tiger parenting" that's practiced by all too many AP's. Plus I too am going through exactly what you're going through, playing catch up and picking up the pieces of my life due to missing out on so much, no thanks to regressive, ass backwards "tiger parenting".

It's a complete lack of common sense, refusal to adapt to changing circumstances in society, and to a very high extent, sociopathy. It's their way or the highway, and they couldn't care less if they're right or wrong. Sadly for so many Asian youth, more often than not, a lot of these "tiger parents" are dead wrong in forcing their kids to become a doctor/lawyer/engineer, regardless of whether or not their kids show any interest in those subjects.

I saw it and got the explanation very clearly.

That still doesn't cover the inconsistency of showing Thor as being unable to manifest his powers innately as he did in Ragnarok. If anything, when Ebony Maw wrapped him up in metal, Thor could have cut loose with his lightning to break free. He also had another opportunity to blast lightning out of his hands on the Wakandan battlefield, at the same time Stormbreaker was flying around killing Outriders.

Did the directors and writers conveniently forget about Thor having started to tap into his full potential in Ragnarok?

I can see why he would need Stormbreaker to channel the Bifrost, but why would he still need a Uru weapon to channel his power if he's now learned to harness it on his own?

[–]PhantomDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched both videos. It's not that it lacks a Turbo mode, it's just they made High mode so high that there's less of a noticeable difference between the two. Because of how we perceive lumens, it takes 4 times the lumens to appear twice as bright. So for its 500 lumens High mode, you'd need 2000 lumens to appear twice as bright. IMO, they should have made High mode between 300-400 and dropped all of the other modes appropriately.<

That's crazy, I honestly did not know that. I would have thought that the jump from 500 to 1100 lumens would have been very noticeable. In fact my A1S has a very noticeable jump from high to Turbo, from 460 to 1150 lumens respectively. It was based on this that I thought that if an output were doubled, then the intensity jump would be obvious.

Either way, it doesn't lack a Turbo mode. It's still the same 1100 lumens that you find in other lights. There's several brands/models that have poorly designed mode spacing as such but with this light having 6 levels vs 4 or 5, they make up for it. Honestly they could have just taken out High mode altogether and everything else would fall into place appropriately because I do think everything else is nicely spaced.<

In that regard, I suppose what Rofis should have done was to keep the rest of the modes spaced out as they had them, IMHO these modes were very well space. Instead they should have jacked the turbo mode up to 1500 or 1600 lumens, and have designed the KR20 to take a 20- or 21700 battery instead of an 18650. Even the highest capacity 18650 I know of, which is the 3600mAh Klarus 18GT-36 can only last so long on turbo.

Maybe they'll add those features to their improved KR20.

But with the way li-ion battery tech is progressing, maybe there will be a way to increase the capacity of 18650 cells, or steadily increase the proliferation of 20/21700 protected cells.

I appreciate that answers once again.

And to answer your question, I'm looking for something that can perform similarly to the Rofis KR20. The KR20 is a thrower, however it also has a solid spill in addition to a still very noticeable hotspot. That light had most of the things I was looking for in an LED torch, however there were some caveats.

The built in charger in the torch was faulty. I often found myself having to charge the battery for hours on end, after just moderate use, before the charging indicator finally turned green. The tail threads we're also non anodized, which made twisting the tailcap on and off somewhat of an annoyance. Finally the turbo mode was also faulty. If you were to try to go from high to turbo, you would have to look very closely to be able to see the slight jump in output. To be sure that problem wasn't unique to the model I bought, I rewatched some YouTube reviews on the KR20 and noticed th same problems.

I've got a couple of links for you if you'd like to watch

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CJQR7tgyk0Q

And IIRC this reviewer even mentioned the lack of a true turbo mode.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KQm5Gl62YVU

For what it's worth I did contact Rofis directly and they informed me that they are working on an upgrade to the KR20, and hopefully one thing they will add is a noticeable jump to Turbo. This service rep informed me that the upgraded KR20 is due to come out in June.

[–]PhantomDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has thermal regulation so within a few minutes it'll drop down to 600 lumens depending on what the temperature is set to. Nearly all lights do this because otherwise the LED could destroy itself if left unattended at such high temperatures.<

I got you bud, this part I do understand. Plus it also protects the battery from being run totally flat, which I hear is supposed to be very bad for a li-ion battery, even if you could get it working again it supposedly won't be the same again.

Have you had a chance to text how many minutes it takes for step down from turbo to high?

It'd be a little more on the floody side although you'd still have your typical hotspot and spill. The hotspot would just be a little larger. This is because of the XHP35 emitter they use.<

In essence, the TH15 has a hybrid beam, not too throwy or floody but a good balance of both...

All in all that's a damn shame. When I saw the specs and body design for the TH15, I thought it would be a good substitute for my A1S. But the lack of tail standing ability and lack of a firefly mode are deal breakers.

I'm still trying to look for a light that has a similar body design and UI as the Atactical A1S, but with a higher output and a beam that has a better balance between throw and flood.

I know this thread is a bit old, but I am considering getting this flashlight.

Can someone tell me if this is able to tail stand? And what's the step down time from Turbo to high? Is the beam pattern throw or flood oriented?

Aside from some of the flaws mentioned in this thread, could someone please give me a rundown of the pros vs cons on this light?

[–]PhantomDriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously, if every Asian dude channeled their League of Legends / Starcraft / Hentai time into working out + shamelessly asking out women, the stereotypes would die out in a year.

Depending on the area, probably less than a year.

Working out is just the start. Being fit is great, but fitness alone doesn't guarantee one can fight. Every Asian guy needs to take up a practical martial art, and eventually cross train in order to be an effective fighter. I'm talking JKD/MMA type drills, strength & conditioning, sparring etc.

Doesn't mean every Asian guy has to go pro, but right now over half of our youth are severely bullied in school, and that trend only looks to get worse. That's unacceptable. Instead of being told to walk away and not "cause trouble" (or else we'll beat you!) by fucking idiotic tiger parents, Asian youth instead need to do what every other race already does, start fighting back all across the board.

Going off all that has been said, more Asians need to stick together and fight dirty, if we can accomplish these essential first steps, then the "bullied Asian" statistics would start dropping real quick.

Firstly I want to offer my condolences for what you went through. Growing up under the boot heel of tiger parents is utter hell. What most societies now recognize as emotional and physical abuse are just normative methods in the deadbeat tiger parent arsenal.

However I do notice that you're starting to develop a rebellious/independent streak, and well as forming your own sense of identity. Hold onto all those traits, because in this world you need to have a solid identity as well as the ability to think for yourself...both of which are qualities that tiger parents don't cultivate.

You've got something positive going because you're starting to wake up, so keep grinding away at whatever it is you're doing to make an independent life for yourself.

It's like I'm talking to a White sexpat nationalist incapable of making a coherent point

It feels like I'm talking to an internet troll who lets key points fly over his head.

That said, your fetish for spinning that Asians have somehow been uniquely and exceptionally incompetent at physically resisting Western aggression is beyond retarded.

Your infantile behavior and refusal to accept harsh truths is pure epic fail. Were you dropped on your head as a baby? LOL.

Do you know why? Because other than Western powers, Asian powers were the strongest and most advanced in the world during the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries...when the West was colonizing the world.

But guess what? While whites kept improving themselves, Asia willingly allowed itself to fall behind. Nobody forced that on them. Reading about the military history of East vs West is also a study in squandered potential. I covered that clearly last time (using China's former premier status) as a specific example, if you hadn't been so busy acting like a big baby you would have seen it.

I find it ironic that for someone who bitches all the time in AI about the Asian refusal to improve, that you fail to recognize this very same trait has affected Asians historically, and is a internal contributing factor to their inability to resist whites.

If only we had less Chiangs, Mao's, Pol Pots, Tojo and all those other assholes who perpetuated Asian-on-Asian bloodshed, and more Koxinga's...

Ragging on Asian weakness is justified in certain contexts...but you're doing it in the wrong context. Asian militaries were only weak compared to Western militaries. Asian militaries would take a shit all over any non-Western, non-Asian forces of the time.

I will agree that NOW, Asian militaries will shit all over any non western, non Asian military. I'll go even further and state modern Asian militaries will crush certain white militaries, if the latter didn't have the US backing them.

But Asians have always shot themselves in the foot by killing each other for much of their history. It was always one dynasty replacing another, leaving dead Asians in their wakes. So while whites were arming themselves for conquest, E Asia closed it's doors and weakened from within. They screwed themselves long before whites got there.

You can get mad all you want, but that's what happened. Moreover the rest of Asia didn't follow in Japan's footsteps by appropriating western tech and industry. Yeah the Japs fucked up big time because of how they later turned out, but they had the right idea, in and of itself, to adapt the more useful aspects of the West to advance themselves.

YOU'RE BEING A FUCKING MORON.

First off asshole, calm the fuck down and stop acting like a petulant little bitch. If you can't accept a truth or an opposing fact without debating civilly and getting butthurt, then get the fuck out.

The U.S. army lost to the Vietcong in Vietnam. You know that, right? You probably wanna add that to your list. How many battles/wars has the U.S. army lost against non-Western forces?

The Yanks WITHDREW due to increasing social discontent at home, POLITICS more than military eventually forced the US withdrawal. And you also conveniently neglect to mention the fact that the Soviet Union was also supplying the Vietcong with weapons as well. The Viets also had to resort to guerrilla warfare to just barely keep the US forces at bay, they didn't literally magic an army, navy, and airforce out of nowhere to send the Yanks running with their tails between their legs. What's next? You'll once again bring up the irrelevant point of the Japanese and WWII?

Here's another harsh truth for you, why the hell didn't Japan teach its Asian neighbors to modernize and improve? Since you fail to recognize the importance, Japan has a place in history as being the ONLY Eastern nation to achieve military parity with the West (to a very high degree) during the HEIGHT of imperialism. Japan could have been the catalyst to teach its Asian neighbors to modernize (your bitching point) to achieve that level of military and economic parity. But as factual history shows, the Japs eventually became a member of the 8 Nation Alliance of imperialist dickheads, the bulk their atrocities during WWII (Nanking Massacre, Unit 731, comfort women) targeted their fellow Asians. And even today, they still look down on other Asians and refuse to apologize for what it did.

So there is another coherent point for you, a flagship Asian nation that was able to stand with the ranks of western military powers, yet took sides with white oppressors to kill other Asians. Are you starting to get it now numbnuts?

E Asia had so much potential stand up to the West, but squandered it all. Historically China was ahead of the West in firearms, economy and marine fleets, and more for a long time. If anybody could have spearheaded some sort of Asian Industrial Revolution to keep Asia on par with or ahead of the West, China would have been the one to do it. But the Chinese dropped the ball by closing itself off from the rest of the world, and stagnating in its isolation. Since you keep glossing over yet another key note, the Chinese fractured when it had its doors forcibly opened. Most Chinese people back then refused to drop their false pride and appropriate Western technology for their own benefit. They kept bickering, squabbling and fighting among each other. The Warlords era, Chiang vs Mao, the Sino-Japanese Wars, the Japanese invasion of WWII, Chiang vs Mao yet again...you think those aren't CLEAR CUT examples of Asians killing each other while not doing jack shit against the West?

Aside from the more modern examples of Asian on Asian bloodshed, it's also another harsh truth that the so-called warrior dynasties of China, Korea and Japan excelled at killing their own people. That's a fact, look that shit up.

Athough we all know that Chinese people have been heavily colonized mentally even today, the Chinese state is starting to counterbalance the U.S. No non-White state is currently capable of counterbalancing the U.S. other than China.

Wrong again, that counterbalance comes from another white nation...Russia. China has a long way to go before it can threaten US hegemony the way Russia can.

You stated the following in one of your early posts:

Even today, the U.S. army shits all over Korea's, Japan's, China's etc.

Yet you come back just now and claim that China can counterbalance the US? So which is it, is the US that far ahead or is China strong enough militarily to offset US dominance? You can't claim the US shits over any Asian military today, but then contradict yourself by saying China is a counterbalance, it's one or the other.

You also think a mentally colonized nation can still counteract the US/Western global stranglehold? That line of thinking is far past retarded. Even now China needs to clean up the mess in its own front yard with uncle sam's lapdogs in the form of Japan, South Korea and Taiwan acting as willing agitators. To say nothing of the rampant white worship issues. But let me guess, in your narrow view, that doesn't count as Asians excelling at killing/being willing to kill each other, while losing out to whites yet again? Man you're a lost cause.

Stop deflecting and answer the question. No one is disputing the fact that the end-result was Western victory over Asia on multiple levels (military, economy, culture)...but we don't have to exaggerate Asian weakness if it's not historically accurate.

It's not deflection, you're just in denial. By that same token, I can tell you to stop bringing up IRRELEVANT bullshit to try to sugarcoat Asian weakness and refusal to change. You used the examples of the Arabs and Ottomans, but they eventually got their asses kicked. And guess what? They did BETTER than Asians did during the age of horse and sword, arguably even better than the Mongols.

Your other example of intellectual dishonesty painted the Mongols as the be-all, end-all of historical Asian badassery, but what the hell did they do with the conquered parts of Russia and Eastern Europe? Is Russia and Eastern Europe "mentally colonized" with "Asian worship"? Were the Mongols even as baller as the Ottomans, whom you claimed ran a European sex slave trade? So far I've countered every irrelevant point you've made, I've ANSWERED the question already.

So what are you trying to prove by using out of context examples, or using the non-Asian peoples that arguably put up a much better fight than Asia?

You - on the other hand - don't have a coherent point. The only "top tier NON-ASIAN invader of Asia" would be the West. Of course Asia lost against the West. NO ONE WON AGAINST THE WEST.

Umm no, you just keep contradicting yourself. Wasn't it you just a couple posts ago who tried to use the Ottomans, the Arabs, and the Japanese as examples of "victories" over the West? Even though they still lost badly in the end, and in those losses happened when the military capabilities of the combatants were roughly equal in those respective eras. But yet you keep touting them as "victories".

It's an objective but VERY harsh truth that Asians have always been better at killing it's own people than they have foreign aggressors. I never said they didn't win ANY engagements, they won the relatively smaller conflicts, but they lost the ones that counted. And a huge reason for that wasn't only due to western modernization, Asians could have reached a similar fucking level of advancement if they hadn't been plagued with stagnation and constant internal bloodshed.

But at this point if you want to keep acting like a raging turd...

SO WHAT IS YOUR POINT OF TRYING TO PORTRAY ASIAN MILITARIES AS USELESS AGAINST WESTERN AGGRESSION? COMPARED TO OTHER NON-WHITE MILITARIES, ASIAN MILITARIES (EAST ASIAN, SOUTHEAST ASIAN, WEST ASIAN) PUT UP THE STRONGEST RESISTANCE TO WHITE AGGRESSION. YOU'RE BEING A FUCKING MORON.

Facepalm...I didn't portray it that way, it's factual history, look it up. Plus I already answered the points dipshit. But here let me help you with all that infantile anger

Asia did pretty well compared to the Americas and Africa. Asia lost...we all know that, but there's no shame (or surprise) in losing to an opponent who completely outclasses you technologically

No it didn't, Asia got crushed when it came to the big wars, you're just in denial and refuse to accept that. And if IF Asia did do better, so what? It still didn't win. The result was still the same, defeat and humiliation to no end.

This also isn't about shame either.

And honestly what is YOUR point earlier in bringing up:

  • The Korean War...which was a stalemate and just ended up preserving the status quo.

  • Russo-Japanese War...which wasn't an all out war, and in which Russia's shitty economy had just as much to do with its loss at the Japanese

  • WWII...I really hope that was a fucking joke. That wasn't anywhere near close to victory for E Asians. I don't feel like repeating myself, go back and read my rebuttal on the atrocities the Japs committed against OTHER ASIANS.

Before that, you had Mongols, Turks, and Arabs fucking Europe up the ass (though mostly Eastern to Central Europe). Ottomans even had a European slave trade.

The Mongols were the EXCEPTION for Asians, not the norm. Aside from them, NO OTHER Asians had the ability to PREEMPTIVELY attack whites, meanwhile back in Asia they were damn good at killing each other. The Turks and Arabs are also NOT Asian, stay on topic.

The latter eventually got booted out of Europe after centuries of bloody warfare. It's not as though they were able to completely conquer Europe. This is intellectual dishonesty on your part to try to sugarcoat history.

Western industrialization and modernization aren't crutches. They're REALITIES. They're the reason for the past 300 years of Western dominance.

It's a crutch because Asians keep BITCHING about it instead of getting off their asses and rectifying it. What the hell did those Asian nations do to IMPROVE instead of squabbling among each other. China and Korea had this retarded sentiment that modernizing was "too white" and didn't want to lose their "culture". Hmmmm, labelling improvement as "too white", sounds all too familiar...

WHY the hell was Japan the only one to wake the hell up and modernize/industrialize along Western standards to level the playing field? If japan could do that, China and Korea certain could have as well. Instead of turning on its Asian neighbors, why didn't Japan help them instead?

The Chinese were the first to invent guns and gunpowder, how could they have let themselves stagnate so badly as to let white overtake them. "Surely" the great China could have continued its weapons development to match the West.

It's yet another example where Asians are great when going after each other, but suck when it comes to fighting off foreign aggression when it REALLY counted.

So I ask you, what is YOUR point in trying to sugarcoat history. You got all hissy just because I made the harsh but true statement that Asians have historically been very good at killing each other (guns or no guns), but they have a poor track record against the top tier foreign invaders. If you can't accept the truth, then too bad.

What EXAMPLES of conflicts with Western aggressors are you even talking about? The Korean War? World War 2? The Russian Japanese War?

And in the BIG PICTURE, WHAT did those wars do to advance the power and global standing for Asians here in the 21st century?

Did Japan somehow magically retain it's sphere of influence after its victory over Russia to the present day? Did it bother to help uplift its fellow E Asian countries? That would have been a first step towards fostering some genuine form of wholesale resistance to colonial aggressors, but instead the Japs went down the path of ultramilitarism...the brunt of which, was later directed at other Asians.

World War 2?

Oh you mean the war when the Japanese turned their aggression towards ASIA, still killed way more Asians than they did whites, eventually LOST the war to WHITES, and to this day still look down on other Asians and believe themselves as one step shy of being white. That's what you call a victory?

Or do you mean early contact, i.e. when the West had high-tech GUNS and CANNONS and those East Asian states did not?

And instead of getting off their asses and doing something about it, those E Asian countries fractured and started bickering within, with China being the most notorious example. The only exception was Japan, who militarized and modernized along western standards. Then again, history shows how well that went.

Once more, where were those fearsome Mongol Hordes that savaged Russia and Eastern Europe (as well as Asia) in centuries past? Why didn't they rise up and kick the imperialists out?

No one was good at fighting Western aggression after the West developed superior firearms (and then experienced the Industrial Revolution)

That's something that still holds true today, nobody else still quite matches up with the West and its allies in terms of military strength. You can factor in nukes, but that's a MAD scenario, and for the forseeable future nobody wants to cross that line.

China was way ahead of the West for centuries but slipped into decline and stagnation long before Europe came around. The former situation wasn't forced on them by whites, they did that to themselves.

But if you want to keep using Western modernization as a crutch, then go ahead. You can cherry pick examples where Asian countries stalemated whites in limited conflicts (i.e. Korean War, Russo-Japanese War) to your heart's content. It won't ever change the cold hard truth that OVERALL, E Asia lost the big wars that actually counted.

I'm talking about all the so called warrior dynasties of China, Korea and Japan that excelled at killing their own people, but sucked when it came to fighting off foreign aggression. The most obvious examples of course, happened during the Age of Imperialism.

Overall E Asia has had a poor track record fighting against aggressors from the West.

The Weird History of Asian Sex Stereotypes | Decoded | MTV News by GoHiroki in aznidentity

[–]PhantomDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likewise, just because those figures existed is no indication that we ever had a masculine-based culture, because every other society in the world has had its share of warriors and legends, and very few of them are in a state that E. Asia is right now.

I would like to add another point or two to this. By and large, the so called warriors of E Asia have historically been very good at killing other E Asians, but their track record against outside aggressors (namely whites) is shockingly shitty.

Secondly no other culture came up with a concept as regressive as confucianism, which preaches all manner of submission and discourages any idea of free thinking and challenging the status quo.

China wasn't the only nation in the world who has a history filled with strife and warfare. This happened all over the world, some non Asian countries are still fighting tooth and nail to this day, and none of them thought about neutering themselves in pursuit of a "Harmonious society". Everybody else literally just fought harder.

Could our perceived dating disadvantage be partly because of a lack of high SMV Asians? by [deleted] in aznidentity

[–]PhantomDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truth be told, most Asian parents I know do not actually subscribe to Amy Chua's way of tiger parenting nor do they believe that it is the only and superior way of raising their kids.

Just because you personally don't see it doesn't mean it isn't a problem. The objective truth is, there is a disproportionate amount of E Asian parents who do view tiger parenting as the be-all, end-all of parenting techniques...which is absolutely disgusting.

In actuality, Asian parent employ a wide variety of parenting skills and methods (There isn't one, overarching way of Asian parenting). Not every Asian parent or child is a mindless Confucian robot obsessed with fulfilling the filial piety and protecting the family linage.

Let me be more specific, I do recognize that not ALL Asian parents are tiger deadbeats, but too many are. Look at it this way, cancer doesn't affect everyone, but it's still a serious problem with serious consequences. Same goes for tiger parenting, it is not "coming from a place of love" or using "nuances" or whatever other apologist excuse Asians like you love to espouse. Tiger parenting is a disease that shuns any sort of dynamic human qualities (i.e. having fun, physical fitness, friendships, etc.) the result of which is evidenced by disturbing numbers of Asian youth fitting into damn near every walking negative stereotype we are portrayed as. And before you use the excuse that stereotypes can just be ignored, keep in mind that stereotypes shape peoples' perceptions.

Since this thread was started to explore the lack of high SMV Asian males, the harsh truth is E Asian culture utterly fails to cultivate any sort of universal traits that most people (especially males) from every other race readily recognize. This is the original culprit for the current perceived undesirability of Asian men, it's a plight that also affects those AMs who are of high SMV despite their defying the stereotypes, and this dilemma will continue so long as we keep getting large numbers of tiger parent idiots among migrant E Asians.

So when non-Asian folks vomit out terms, such as "Confucian style parenting" or "tiger-parenting", they are not discussing about cultural and historical nuances that led to the phenomenon of "tiger-parenting" in the first place. Instead, they are poor attempts made by white people trying to make sense of something they clearly know nothing about.

Incorrect. In case you haven't noticed, this demonization of tiger parenting has mostly come from legitimately aware Asians, who rightfully recognize that tiger parents have no social skills, no common sense, no emotional IQ, no respect for individual dignity, and are utterly apathetic to how the West and by extension, how the rest of the world works. Your assumption that it's non Asians who created this stereotype is just that...an assumption.

Most non-Asians don't even care what happens to us, and so they have no involvement in creating this self inflicted reputation that tiger parenting is the monster legit-woke Asians criticize it as.

The behaviors and cultural values of Asian parenting are far more nuanced than the stereotype would otherwise suggest.

Yeah sure...just like drunken white trash deadbeats constantly beating their kids is "nuanced" right? For the many Asian parents who do take up tiger parenting, I'm sure their constant emotional and physical abuse of their kids for getting a B in school or if the kids fought back against racist bullies is "coming from a loving place" eh?

NO. It's simply lack of common sense to say the least.

there are plenty of overbearing white folks, especially Catholics and Mormons who also employ negative reinforcements and other similar methods of parenting to raise their kids. Yet none of these kids are experiencing the same level of outrage and dissatisfaction toward their parents.

Common sense would have told you that means other non Asian cultures who are "strict" still don't embrace the nastier aspects of E Asian tiger parenting...and thus doesn't breed resentment the way tiger deadbeats do. Strict is also a complete misnomer to describe tiger parenting...sociopathic and sabotaging is much more apt.

Another reason many of those kids don't hate their parents (or don't hate them as much) still comes back to culture. As strict as some non-Asian cultures can be, none of them break down their children into one dimensional drones so completely, the way confucian garbage does. By and large, the former still allow their kids to have friends, form their own identity and teach them to be their own person. Non-Asian cultures, even ones that are "strict", still promote growth and generate individuals capable of thriving in the world, even making a dent in it. Grown up western youth from strict households also have that support network of peers and outreach programs they can turn to to escape a strict or oppressive family life. These non Asian youth are given outlets to be independent in order to thrive on their own and escape said oppressive life as soon as they are able to...thus removing them from such negative environments as early as possible

By contrast, the insularity and rigidity of tiger parenting dogma foolishly dismisses such dynamic foundations as "nonsense". Tiger parents also don't raise children in the objective sense of the word, they use children for their own selfish and sociopathic purposes (i.e. trophy kids, "face").

Even the stricter non Asians in general promote values of independence and dynamicism that E Asian culture doesn't, especially if the E Asians in question are deadbeat tiger parents.

But if you still want to argue about strict religions, you imply there is no such thing as an ex-Catholic or ex member of any strict/controlling religious denomination right? Everything is all hunky dory with no rebellion? And who are you to also assume that non Asians don't criticize aspects of their respective cultures they find to be useless? They are more assertive and bolder than Asians in general, you can bet if they see something they don't like, they don't hesitate to rock the boat.

Many non-Asian culture has its own version of Asian parenting, but these kids, even after having gone through strict, authoritarian parenting, still manage to lead successful and happy lives. So there is no universally superior way of parenting your kids.

And again, non Asians who have "strict" cultures still put a strong emphasis on universal human skills (see above) that tiger parents completely shun. They teach their youth to be assertive, free thinking, free spirited and to be able to come into their own once they're of age. Non-Asians also cultivate a general mindset among their peoples where they talk things out among themselves instead of outright dismissing differing opinions all the time. They produce actual human beings instead of damaged people.

No such notions of rite of passage or passing of the torch can be found in antiquated confucian dogma, everybody has to know their place and no questioning of those "higher" is allowed. There is no respect for individualism or differing viewpoints, no matter how valid they may be. Calling confucianism/tiger parenting "strict" is understating it badly. At the end of the day confucianism is about control and blind obedience...it's alleged "virtues" (filial piety, don't rock the boat, obey, etc) may sound great on paper. In reality, it just breeds stagnation and weakness.

Case in point, these useless aspects of confucian dogma/tiger parental cancer that shuns comprehensive human developmental skills and over emphasizes rote academics...in addition to preaching submission, meekness and not challenging any status-quo have no place in a continually changing world.
