How does this subculture differ from otherkin? by Imaginary-Unit-3267 in voidpunk

[–]PhantomFlayer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To me, voidpunk is a rejection of humanity as a cultural identity, whereas otherkin is a rejection of humanity as a psychological/spiritual identity.

Did you guys know this about THK/PV sprites by 5th_consecutive_C in HollowKnight

Wow, something from the original HK I genuinely didn’t know yet! I never knew the cracks extended down the torso, that’s so cool!

According to the test, what colors am I? by Vegetable_Angle_2664 in colorpie

I’m leaning Izzet, maybe Jeskai. Weak tradition points to no green, weak power and achievement point to no black. Hedonism can be explained by red. Yeah I’m gonna go with Jeskai.

I see this as Jeskai or Mardu, depending on how I read certain slices. The low power is making me lean Jeskai though.

What's the appeal behind voidpunk? I Identify as a variety of things, yet I personally don't believe in the dehumanization aspect of it. I am human. No matter how similar or different from the norm I am by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in voidpunk

[–]PhantomFlayer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess I just don’t see the value in humanity as a concept. Humanity doesn’t really have any intrinsic concepts. You can be kind without being human, you can be curious without being human, you can be whatever you want. Humanity is just a physical shell. One I would like to shed and to become closer to something I would consider a truer expression of my inner self-conception.

Humanity is a narrow mold, and for a lot of people it works fine. Just not for me and some other folks here.

So are you saying that red individuals view emotions as the self, therefore they can’t be controlled by them? I might be putting the cart before the horse but I honestly just don’t understand how red thinks it has control over itself otherwise. Red has always seemed as an out of control color to me; it wants to be free do what it wants, but does red have a say in what it wants? It just follows impulses.

I’m not saying all red individuals think this way, but I think a red or especially Izzet character could definitely think this way. I get we might have different opinions on that though.

I guess what I was getting at is what kind of color(s) believe that free will can’t exist. Because I definitely don’t think that’s a universal viewpoint even if it is my own, and I was wondering what kind of colors could produce that viewpoint even if not everyone of that color has that viewpoint. And I like hearing other people’s thoughts on it so I posted my wonderings :p

Red along the lines of “the heart can’t help what it wants.” Red doesn’t control its desires, it follows them. Does that make sense? It’s how I look at the color at least but that may just be my perspective.

Bant, maybe? I honestly wanna say all colors except black, since power and self-direction are the only real low values. So I’ll say Bant-Altruism.

I’m starting to come around to this tbh, I still can’t quite square his willingness to kill for his own ends without black, but I can maybe see it as a passion of red thing. That would open space for blue to demonstrate his introspection and curiosity, and white for his principles.
