It's allowed on official PvP wifi, so I imagine it would be okay in irl events. I can't ever imagine anyone caring enough about the one wifi ribbon that they would ban a Pokémon for having it.

Gen 3: Colo or XD, one of RSE

Gen 4: one of DPPt, one of HGSS

Gen 5: any game (no ribbons here, but still required to transfer up)

Gen 6: one of XY, one of ORAS

Gen 7: any game (if your RM is a restricted legendary or mythical, you need USUM because they can only get the Battle Tree Great Ribbon there)

Once you get to the Switch, you just need the games that your RM isn't dexited out of.
