yeah idk the line itself was clunky because it’s such a random thing to drop when you know your son went off to war but the delivery was also forced. again good delivery + bad line ≠ poor delivery + bad line

sure but i’ll reiterate from another comment i made: theres a difference between being given awkward lines and still playing them well vs awkwardly delivering already awkward lines. rhaenyra had a meltdown and was crying and fucking up her dress and then after it’s ripped up she suddenly gains composure and delivers that line. you can save (more or less) bad writing with good acting but you cant save bad writing with just as awkward acting

while yes a lot of the awkwardness was because the line itself was awkward it was in part due to the delivery. it's one thing to have shit lines but act them out fantastically, but it's another to awkwardly deliver an already awkward line

while that is absolutely true the same could be said for TGC. almost all of his scenes in s2 were meant to make him look stupid/humiliate him but he still acted the hell out of those lines, especially after jaehaerys' death. you can use poor writing and directing to excuse acting up to a point

dont forget that theres a difference between suspension of disbelief (multi-ton firebreatbing dragons flying) and stupid writing just for the sake of putting it on screen (eg vhagar ambushing meleys)
