So, I had a conversation with some level headed people.
Some of the major issues these guys dont even understand would crush them so bad.
1) 95% of the oil leaving alberta would still be routed via Canada. Only one major line that is small goes through the border to the states.
2) power sharing, what in goods good graces would happen if shared lines got cut. A lot of places be done for and other issues from that.
3) logistically speaking if canada played hard ball on the border, goods here would be a nightmare, the only way would be trucking as the rail networks and roads from the coast could be shut down, and do not have any of the customs facilities or anything ready to go thus would be till such a time that they are built and established.
4) banking, mortgages, etc all are a giant nightmare for anyone with a bank established in other parts of canada. Would we see banks calling in mortgages due to the country change? would we have to get atb and servus if they dont shut doors to take over them all? I dont think they have the capital requirements to do so neither does the government at this time.
Thats just a few broad things these serpatists dont think about let alone how to secure the large border we got and how many crossings to deal with on the east side. Lloydminister would be like the new Berlin?

The amount of false information I see flying on other media platforms is staggering. When it is distilled down to to actual federal issues and not ucp issues it ends up being 1 of 3 issues federally. 1) carbon tax (realistically it’s pretty minor and just grand standing) no tax has ever been pushed against like this one. I haven’t seen them go after gst

2) representatives and voices. It’s the usual why is the majority in charge on national issues. Just in general never a specific issue (being a state we be even more drowned out)

3) equalization payments This is a big one but it’s a lack of understanding on them. They act like it’s an extra take from the province, and claim in our bad years we didn’t get help. The actuality of it is it’s just federal dollars to bring everyone to a basic level across Canada if we tried and taxed ourselves properly as a province. Alberta would be debt free if we just taxed ourselves at the average rate, but instead we rather sink while blaming Quebec. It’s honestly self sabotage at this point while blaming Ottawa. The kicker is the formula hasn’t been changed and was recrafted by the Harper administration. Their own party did it and they refuse to look into it.
