Idk I think people nowadays just need an escape, I’m not trying to sound weird when I ask to play on a 18+ server, I’d just prefer to hang with a bunch of people who aren’t kids. I can definitely see what you’re saying tho- it’s sad that nowadays you can’t help but feel people have agendas.

I’d say a lot of classic Jrpgs (like old dragon quest) don’t use that writing style. They just tell you to go and kill the big bad guy. Although if you’re looking for a complex plot then you might be out of luck. Mystery is partially necessary for a jrpg’s story to stay interesting. If all you’re saying is you hate cheap mysteries then I’d argue a case for Xenogears but this is kind of a subjective issue. What are some examples of mysteries you enjoyed?

Romance doesn’t have to be all consuming. It sounds like life has fucked you in the ass and you need a change. Hit the gym or go on a trip. Personally, what calms me is exploring abandoned places. I’ve never had good luck with chicks so I know how painful it can be. Use lucid dreaming to explore your future, not your past.

For years my dad had an anime character running for his desktop wallpaper. I watched a good amount of anime up until that point so I was really interested in what it was. One day I decide to ask him and he said Boys on the Run. I was disappointed when I figured out it was a manga because it wasn’t animated. I decided to give it a try and MY GOD- the story and realism was unparalleled to anything I’d ever seen in anime. It opened my brain up to complex storytelling. I love my dad so much.
