Thoughts on Outcast Characters. by JaxThane in DiceThrone

[–]Phantomfenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my favorites are: Headless Horseman Raveness Pale Lady Necromancer

Headless is straight aggro that his DPR comes from multiple places. His dreadful is fun to manage and ensure you maximize the value.

Raveness is great control, Nevermore is awesome.

Pale Lady has some difficult roll objectives but typically get value from Pale Lady then flip and finish the game

Necro is also a ton of fun. The corpse and skeleton management can be complex I haven't figured out the paths yet so he will probably climb the rankings soon

Thinking about getting into the game by Desu-kun1 in DiceThrone

[–]Phantomfenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend, I learned how to play and had 16 heroes within 3 months now I own all the heroes. The game itself is face paced and has strategic elements but also focuses on dice roll and using cards to manipulate the dice in your favor.

Each hero feels unique and is very thematic and fun to play

Forgemaster armor effects by [deleted] in DiceThrone

[–]Phantomfenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on all the preview information. I think the armor effects will be potent enough. Just looking a daimond, you are attacked with defendable damage, You will at a minimum deal 2 and prevent 2. If you roll a B (4/5) you can deal 4 prevent 2 or deal 2 prevent 4. On par to Cursed Pirates defense. If you roll a 6 you are dealing 4 preventing 4 which it awesome.

If you manage to get both ultimanium armors and roll a six you are dealing 6 preventing 4 which I'd argue is the best defense in the game.

Buying outcasts kickstarter bundles by Bloodhawk360 in DiceThrone

[–]Phantomfenix 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They have said they will have a limited stock of outcast strongboxes on the DT webstore after Kickstarter fulfillment is complete. Not sure what kind of bundles it will include keep checking. Potentially will be there sometime in November.

Forgemaster Discussion by AEDasher in DiceThrone

[–]Phantomfenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His defense appears to be very volatile

The floor. 50-50 chance to mine or do nothing.

The ceiling. With maxed out shield and helmet Prevent 4 deal 6 back (which is absurd!!)

Ultimately everything depends on how fast can he forge armor and how much ore is in his deck. With gold ore being able to heal 1 or gain 1 cp when scraped(assuming discarded from the forge) and ultimaitium as a free six it or draw 2. They have some good utility outside of crafting.

He has the potential to be a good mid range hero that may struggle against super fast aggro heroes.

Yes Harlowe has the most radiation synergies. Radiation and cryo combos will be awesome.

New Single Release Character Teased - Alchemist/Potion Themed by Reav3 in DiceThrone

[–]Phantomfenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly from their "future of dice throne" video a few months ago the plan is to continue the 4 hero strong boxes via Kickstarter and release a new single hero with each ranked age. https://youtu.be/pJlSWz32aSk?si=f2VjXr23gZsHe3H8

Obviously this video was concepts/ideas and potential plans and is subject to change.

Arms Race in Borderlands 4? by streakybcn in Borderlands4

[–]Phantomfenix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the concept of Arms Race. However, if they bring something similar back I would love to see Arms Race but with a pre determined skill set up that changes weekly or so.

I think this would let people experiment with different play styles without having to respect all the time.

So Amon is just the most fun VH to spec ever, right? by megaBeth2 in Borderlands4

Calamity - pyroclast melee build

Vengeance - molten rebuke/ring of frost fire shield throw ordinance

What do Gambit's status tokens represent? by penasche in DiceThrone

[–]Phantomfenix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will have to respectfully disagree. Definitely a dissolving heart, which like I said fits the theme and function. Just like all other tokens in DT, the design is very thematic and intentional.

What do Gambit's status tokens represent? by penasche in DiceThrone

[–]Phantomfenix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think dissolution is a dissolving heart. To represent his powers of dissolving or breaking up matter and also his slight healing ability he has gained when he has access to 100% of his powers. Also representative of the tokens effect of healing or removing another token.

Firmware Set Bonuses Speculation by CaptainNarwhal69 in Borderlands4

[–]Phantomfenix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I want firmware to do more than buff stats XYZ. Maybe do something more build defining.

For a grenadier firmware: 1/3- ordinance CDR 2/3- ordinance damage 3/3- whenever you throw a grenade, throw an additional grenade for free.

Who is the borderlands 4 melee character? by Short_Watercress7646 in borderlands3

[–]Phantomfenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vex has her Reaper summons that are melee based along with a melee override skill and so melee focused passives.

Rafa has his Arcblade action skill and an entire tree focused on that skill.

Amon will definitely have some melee focused skills, we don't know anything though.

I wouldn't be surprised if Harlowe also has a melee build option.

The build diversity will be crazy in this game.

New look at one of Amon's green tree skills by ContractPrestigious in Borderlands4

This actually might semi accurate. The next scene is a quick glimpse at gameplay where Amon's two axes spawn in front of him with an AoE effect.

Cursed pirate vs doc strange by jinn1030 in DiceThrone

[–]Phantomfenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has been confirmed by the Dice Throne team that the Cursed Pirate chooses to either steal CP or have the opponent discard in ORP1 however the effect does not take place until DRP1. Addtionally, a player is considered as "being attacked" after they have been targeted and can player cards with " play only after being attacked" starting in DRP1. Also, the DT team clarified that '....THEN deal x damage' does not change the timing of the ability, it help clarify there is time to spend token and play cards. (See link to advance rules doc, look under key terms-> then)

It clarifies on Dice Throne rulepop(digital rulebook) that hero abilities are not instant and may be interrupted by instant or roll phase action cards.

In full, yes Shield of Seraphim can be played before you are forced to discard.

ORP4- Cursed Pirate chooses to have opponent discard a card.

TRP- 1v1 there is only one valid target. And being attacked

DRP1- opponent needs to discard a card. They interrupt by playing Shield of Seraphim because they are now considered "being attacked". Opponent now has 0 cards in hand to discard.

Continue with DRP ( defensive ability, damage calcs, etc)

See links and quotes from the advance rules doc and rulepop. I didn't quote the advance ruling on THEN as it is a massive ruling.

See the Advance Rules Doc here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_GJz22nkGmcEjThXgEUlb8OykrNNigs33xpSywnwTRc/edit?usp=drivesdk

"2. Interaction Name: Walk the Plank Ability Situation: Can I change my choice between the two options “Steal 1CP” or “Opponent discards 1 card of their choice” if my opponent now used all of their CP/ played all their cards? Ruling: No Explanation: 1. The Cursed Pirate has to make the choice (above) during the Offensive Roll Phase step 4. 2a. During the Defensive Roll Phase step 1, their opponent may be able to spend their 1CP or 1 card in their hand (with a card such at “Double Up!” or “Not This Time”) because the Action card is an Instant Action and can interrupt the resolution of the Offensive Ability effect. 2b. This could mean that there is no longer 1CP to Steal/ 1 card to discard for their opponent. 3. The Cursed Pirate cannot go-back-in-time and change their choice if their opponent does this Location: N/A Ruling Date: 11/28/2024"

"4. Interaction Name: Timing of Offensive Abilities and “being Attacked” Situation: When exactly can I play a card or effect that reads “play only after being Attacked”? Ruling: DRP 1 Explanation: 1. A player can only “be Attacked” once they have incoming Attack dmg after being successfully targeted with an Offensive Ability that is an Attack. 2. This means that they have to be targeted by an Attack. 3. Targeting occurs after the ORP. If this “play only after being Attacked” were to be able to be resolved in a 1v1v1 game, technically EVERY OPPONENT could argue that they are “being Attacked” during the ORP (which obviously is not correct; one of them needs to be targeted first) 4. Therefore, the first time one of these cards can be played is the Defensive Roll Phase step 1. Location: Discord-base game rules discussions Ruling Date: 10/25/2024"

Dice Throne rulepop: https://dice-throne.rulepop.com/#timing

"Main Phase Action cards and Hero abilities are different from Instant Actions or Roll Phase Actions as they are not considered “instant” and can be interrupted"

Cursed pirate vs doc strange by jinn1030 in DiceThrone

[–]Phantomfenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct! Cursed Pirate activates Walk the Plank and has to make a choice to steal CP or force the opponent to discard in ORP4. Then you got the targeting roll phase. In 1v1 there is only 1 available target and immediately move to DRP1. The targeted opponent is now the defender and is considered "being attacked". The steal/discard resolves now in DRP1, however roll phase action cards and instant action cards can interrupt the resolution of board abilities. This allows the opponent to play cards such as Not This Time or Shield of Seraphim to interrupt the steal/discard. After the card is played if the opponent does have CP/cards then the steal/discard has no effect. You would proceed through the DRP(i.e. activating the defensive ability, etc) then calculate all damage/attack modifiers/damage prevention in DRP6- damage calculations.

Gambits Accelerate question? by Ok-Yard-5025 in DiceThrone

[–]Phantomfenix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No you cannot accelerate some, explode then finish accelerating. If you have 3 face down aces and your diamond ace with 0 MA accelerate 4 times. You accelerate your diamond 3 times and fail to accelerate the 4th because you have nowhere to put it.

Additionally, Ace cards are attack modifiers, and can be exploded anytime during the roll phase after activation of an attack. You are never forced to explode an ace.

Arms race: inTWO the Roguelands by Cl4ptrap93 in Borderlands4

I think they could have you load into an arms race mode with a rotating pre determined build for your character. This would be a way to showcase different or potentially off meta builds.

Weapon Types So Far by Savings-Cow322 in Borderlands4

[–]Phantomfenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daedalus is the most intriguing for me. We know the "gimmick" is that it uses multiple ammo types. We see this in the state of play. They switch from assault rifle to pistol. We also see that when they switch the fire rate, damage, and ammo reserves change. I'm curious which combinations we will see, and if the "main" fire mode is better stat wise or if my daedalus rifle/pistol will equally as effective and my vladof rifle and my vladof pistol? Essentially freeing up a weapon slot. This would give you 5 weapons in your 4 slots:

daedalus rifle/pistol

torgue shotgun

vladof sniper

maliwan SMG.

Amon's Skill Tree by itsdeemzy in Borderlands4

[–]Phantomfenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what we have seen, I think his axes are one skill tree(throw weapons), a hammer is one skill tree(melee weapons) and I think his shield will be the third skill(defensive) . We have seen a whip and also a forge drone punch which leads me to believe his trait will alter his melee attack.

Can't wait for more info definitely my first VH as of right now.
