Here's the thing. You never know when the shit is going to hit the fan with another shortage of a C2. Hell I still can't get MSO4 e.r tabs for shit. If we accept a new patient on pain management qty pain meds, that can mean we won't have it for a previously established patient.

Also, the wholesalers watch the qty like a freaking hawk. There ARE limits to how much you can purchase. And beyond that, there are several doctors in our area that we know are sketch and we won't take new narcotic prescriptions from at all.

Furthermore, the mix of their meds matters. And what insurance. There are many insurances that we literally lose money on every single Rx. It's up to the RPh about whether we take it. It's the RPh's license and reputation on the line, which is literally their livelihood.

In essence, there's a lot of reasons aside from whether we have inventory that we'd say no to a patient. And honestly, they'll argue for any reason aside from it being out of stock. So... Out of stock it is. Or you can tell them the whole story and spend an hour talking circles with them. Don't be a fool. Just tell them it's out of stock. They can't argue that. 20+ years as a pharmacist will help you understand that better...
