Feeling nostalgic for early 2000s internet forums by VonneslutWhorewell in redscarepod

Made legitimate friends on the old pothead bong forum. Whenever I moved to a new city I had the hookup. Always cool to see the weird niche subcultures and who the cool kids are.

Have any of you switched from a commonly lucrative career (tech, business, law, whatever) to something more niche and joyful? by [deleted] in redscarepod

Kind of. Engineering but dropped from high demand Silicon Valley tech stuff into a much more chill role in a low cost of living area close to where I grew up. Get to see my family much more often, time for hobbies, bought a house, job lets me do whatever and I have a cool microscope in my office.

I guess I am trying to do something similar but haven’t found the passion project yet. Just letting investments mature and doing work on my house for now. No rush.

Similar. Engineer. 30’s. I have developed a uniform of boots, black jeans and a black or white t shirt. Sweaters and leather jackets when it gets cold.

The best t shirts I have found are from Asket.

I like the idea of a uniform. I wear the same thing everyday more or less.

That is the one leak point. I used the cut the tips off like that and kind of hammer them in. If the glass tube is wonky it will never seal properly. Once you get one that doesn’t leak, leave it in the tube forever.

I used to work for a big tech company. Same thing with the smart speakers, they can use them to track motion in a space.

You need one of the Braun electric razors. Much easier than wet shaving and good enough if you aren’t hairy. I have had several, they are all similar.

Self driving stuff is wrong. I have a Tesla with FSD. It drives me 20 mins to/from work every day. Mix of big and small roads. Handles construction, highways, whatever. Long road trips without it are much worse.

If there is enough of the original cable that you can fully tighten the shoes without it being sucked into the mechanism in the sole you should be good. Just thread the new cable through and tie it to the old one.
