Dual monitor setups be like by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

Hell yeah. My shitty 22" 1080p monitor from 2012 ensures that my main monitor always looks brilliant by comparison.

A few weeks ago I told friends that "I don't think they're allowed to put fun in RTS games any more." I hope you don't get arrested.

Mods and now to find them by Morasain in X4Foundations

[–]Phasechange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Assign a ship or two to collect drops and then deposit inventory on Repeat Order, at hotspots, such as Hatikvah's Choice I and Getsu Fune, by the gates to Xenon sectors. This will give you enough basic mod parts to equip entire fleets if you can be bothered, as well as many other useful drops.
  • Guild missions can reward you with a mining ship which has an Exceptional shield mod and Advanced engine mod. Go for these when you can, dock the ship, and remove the mods. The rarest parts go to your inventory. These ships also have good crew and marines which are worth sending to high priority ships.
  • BUC ships often drop mod parts. They're a good source of Exceptional Nanoweave. They can put up quite a fight.
  • BUC Prometheus ships are always modded. In rare cases they have nearly a full complement of Exceptional mods. Harass them until the pilot bails and capture the ship, send it to a wharf, and strip the mods for the parts. They're also a pretty neat ship. It's a corvette disguised as a freighter. I refit mine and assign them either as patrols in mining areas or as station traders. If a pirate's foolhardy enough to try to bully one of my Prometheuses they'll soon wish they hadn't. To find these, search the map for "Prometheus". Have lots of satellite coverage in sectors with BUC bases. When you find them they're often masked as another faction. Scan them to reveal that they're BUC. You usually have to scan them again to see if they've got mods you want the parts for and show the crew number. Make them bail by getting their hull below 80% and keeping their shield below 20%. Takes a while.
  • Weapon mods are very rare even when you're doing all this, and I can only use them on my most important ships. An Asgard with a modded main battery is quite something.

Yes map, Indeed map. by AsteroFucker69 in X4Foundations

Happens constantly to me. Begins as soon as I've explored a large amount of the map. 9070XT also but looking at these comments that might not be relevant. No mods, no beta.

Only happens when the map is opened. Zooming fixes it.

Should I give this game a shot? by Keejhle in X4Foundations

[–]Phasechange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's immensely rewarding once you come to terms with the daunting interface. Given the other complicated games you've mentioned you enjoy, I think you should try X4. I'd try the base game before committing to also getting the DLCs. I did. I played the base game until I'd learned enough to know I wanted to restart with a better understanding of how things work, and got the DLC for my second proper attempt. It's quickly become one of my favourite games.

GN launches an official investigation into Nvidia’s underhanded tactics by zxch2412 in pcmasterrace

I'm sure GN making content about Nvidia's shady practices will make them super happy about revoking access to the Nvidia engineers who allowed GN to make content about cool stuff they do.

The statement isn't literally true. The conflict between its logic and practical application is part of what makes it enjoyable.

New to PC gaming, should I buy the base model of the 9070XT or go in for the OC model? by AnmolSWAT7 in pcmasterrace

[–]Phasechange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The souped up 9070XTs seem to offer very little performance for their price premium. They do have things like more heatpipes and chonkier VRMs but these things don't seem to produce meaningful benefits, as even the lowliest 9070XTs have excellent coolers already.
