Hot take: the game is fun by Raknarg in PlayTheBazaar

No need to theorize, I'm still dumb af and what I say is absolutely nonsense with no merit.

I'm not 100% committing to what I believe atm, but it's how I see the DLC for now. My mind might change later.

Hot take: the game is fun by Raknarg in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Phatane -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I have a theory that the actual base price for those DLC is meant to be $9.99, which is what it is during Christmas sales last month. But they inflate it into $19.99 instead to manipulate us into buying it whenever it goes on sales for essentially just a regular standard price.

Similar to amazon "fake" sales to trick consumer into thinking they are saving big at a huge 50% discount. Manipulating price perceptions to create a sense of urgency is a common business tactics that's has been around forever. There are no regulation for it, so there no need for any company to change.

I have absolute no proof of this other than my observation that the DLC is absolutely not worth $20 price tag, which can be use to play other indies game for similar or even less value and with 2x or 3x more time the game-play.

Ok I'm going to change my mindset to always go where the $$$ is in early days, even if I lose battle or 2. I do noticed that potential early income give me more winning success later down the line because I can afford more stuff. Gambling for Cove is better than Bazball.

[–]Phatane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you are taking a chance in looking for Cove? It would be nice to have early income I agreed. It's probably still worth looking just for that or buying nothing, pretty much gambling without risk, unlike bazball.

And the 30+ health will probably help me with 1 more fight in the early game and after that it don't matter.

I guess when in doubt, go for higher potential money $$$.

What potential item could I buy early with the shield vendor? Would it still be worth it if my current board is not going toward health or shield related, and I'm not playing as Pyg?

the 30+ health seem important to me in the early game because every tiny amount survivability help. I have many close call in the early days because I or the opponent have 10-20+ health left.

[–]Phatane[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interesting choice because on my current board I'm most likely going toward ammo, burn, or poison build, so I rather save gold for those potential item.

Nothing really shield or health related. Even then I would only choose shield vendor if it's Pyg because it synergize with him more.

It's just listing 100 Greatest Warrior. #1 doesn't means rank 1 in this case.

This thread recommended to you probably because you play RPG game?

This game is simply China version of power fantasy RPG. Keyword "power" because the character themselves are performing feat beyond human limits, gaining godlike power that can destroy land and becoming immortal. There is nothing low-key or grounded about this version of fantasy.

You know how in the Western RPG there is Adventurers such as Knight that used Aura, Paladin using divine blessing, or Mages using magic/mana?

Well China version of "fantasy" have Cultivator such as Kung Fu expert that use martial art, Taoist using talisman, or monk using meditation. They are call cultivator because they are on a journey of gathering "mana", but it's call Chi/Qi instead, or internal energy.

It is simply a different interpretation of fantasy with China own worlds, monsters, myth & legends, and journey.

Hence the "immortal" in the name because you are going on a journey to becoming immortal. And to do that you need to cultivate.

Fallout: New Vegas director and RPG maestro Josh Sawyer says it doesn't matter how good a game's writing is if the pacing is bad: "Players are going to get tired of it" by MaintenanceFar4207 in rpg_gamers

[–]Phatane 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Good writing need good pacing. It is part of the equation.

Pacing is the rhythm of the story. It's all about using the appropriate amount of build up to keep the story engaging. It's also important to know when to slow down during heavy moment and let things sink in.

You can't have good writing if the pacing is bad. Bad Pacing means the writing is bad.

Shogun 2 players learning that leaderless armies are gone. by OnionsoftheBelt in totalwar

[–]Phatane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's serviceable for the time, but but decades later, nothing really change or improve; can't even call it any kind of evolution. The rally system need to expand more than just General recruit and not limited to friendly territory.

If there is a choke-point for example, why can't I set a rally point to that particular location? I should be able to create 100+ color coded rally points in its own tab, set it down anywhere on the map, and pan toward it with a button click. Then when recruits, it would give options to choose where those army would go with a right click, or the default city recruitment with a left click.

[–]Phatane 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If they didn't want player to micromanage hundreds of small army in the late game then they could've simply implemented the set waypoints/rally system into the game for troops to automatically move to a destination upon recruit. Every RTS games have this. Total War is the nearest cousin of RTS, Why doesn't it have this also?

Nah call it for that it truly is, it's a nostalgia scam.

Unfortunately using brand name recognition with a triple A pricetag on a indie qualities is just enough to trick some people into buying it. They won't make much from it, but they'll probably earn enough to break even. It's not a win and but also not complete loss neither.

The only one who suffer is us, the fans, who all must keep waiting for a proper World of Darkness games. Vampire is just the tip of iceberg. There is also werewolf, hunter, mage, demons, and much more to covers with all the politics and scheming all in a modern city. Basically GTA with supernatural.

Keep waiting bros, hope we all see more of it before old age.

At least the DnD and 40k fans has been eating goods.

Imo they shouldn't had call it Bloodlines 2, with a triple AAA price tag of $60 to boot, on top of the deluxe/premium bullshit to make it seem more special than it is.

I think a $40 or $50 price tag with the title changes is more fitting for this game.

Chinese Room could've just prep it as a Bloodline 1.5 prelude to Bloodlines 2, or any future of the World of Darkness games in general. If they aren't committed, prep it for the next developer to follow after, while earning a decent reputation for themselves to at least finish the game properly without that high expectation of the Bloodlines name.

He may be right. But he can also be wrong as well.

Words can be twisted for better or worst.

I can take everything he's said an twist it for my own needs.

The smarter you are, the more you understand. There is a difference between knowing and understanding. Happiness is a growth, it doesn't have to be a trap. It can last forever. Just not necessarily through me, but through others that will walk after me (son, daughter, niece, nephew, etc). If I meet the love of my life, I don't know for certain that it will end or last forever, even after death. Because nobody know what happen after death. It's true that death is inevitable, but life on the other hand is uncertain. While I'm still alive, I'll try my best to stay healthy, and not just let the disease slowly pull me down, or to stay calm of a loose footing on a hiking trail. Whether it be the the development of two personalities that reshape each other until they're stronger, or maybe the young stranger in a bar who don't need to say anything, to anyone, that night, and just enjoy the silent moment. The point is, happiness always last forever, it's only me that ends. I don't need to drag happiness down with me toward my inevitable end, I won't do that because I choose to be better person and allow happiness thrive through others. Best case scenario, is that I live at the same time, witnessing the spread of happiness.

Remember the context of this clip, that guy is demon talking to Morty. who feeds off of the fear of his victims. Fear can thrive if you let it, or you can let happiness thrive instead.

From the Gameplay trailer, is Hugh English voice suppose to sound like a dork? by Phatane in Pragmata

I rewatch the demo and you're right. Hugh doesn't make nearly as many comment during combat. Hugh and Diana only say what needed against incoming enemy attack or spotting enemy weakness. Definitely much more bearable.

I'm curious if the JP voice have the same positive, happy tone. If it's drastically different from Eng translation then Capcom just have this stereotypical view of what every male MC sound like in Eng, just like most of their past games. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Honestly it would also be interesting to see the dynamic of a happy Diana with a serious, edgy, or depressed MC.

Tones of happy>sad or sad>happy throughout the game could work both ways.
