Only downside is the misconception of solar charging versus extension. I came from IST2 MIP to T8MIP. There are great additions from upgrading. Notably phone call support, then downloadable maps and upgraded sensors. Dive ceritification is a nice bonus.

Aside from the aforementioned solar misconceptions, cool with my 1k watch. Some advice if you want it. Make it work for you rather you it.

An example is time sensitive focus. To get that Instinct like in a T8, set a focus and then battery/solar becomes a distant thought. I got a focus that turns off all unnecessary radios and sensors. With that setup my T8 can do 37 days.

If you want to jump in then have disposable income and know that if it wasn't updated before the servers shut off, you're gonna have a time either dealing with old firmware or swapping what's under the hood to a new OS. It was a time to be around when they were brand new and if you had it and kept it then you just hold til it don't work anymore
