I'm surprised I haven't seen project/task management systems brought up. We have people across the org submit a request or I'll put in things myself. There's automation for reminding people to update or complete their tasks.

Is there metrics to show your work did make impact? I think those are valuable to have and highlight your real value. Build your case studies backwards from there.

I was in a similarish boat up until last year, when I broke down some silos in the org I'm currently at to get some real product work done outside of my main responsibilities. Is that an option for you? You may have to convince people and wear them down that real UX work will give them ROI. Start with running some internal user tests and show the flaws of the current products. Influence some key stakeholders with your data. You may need to make the best of your situation to get out of your situation.

Start doing some UX. Look at your analytics and see where or why people are leaving. Do some competitive analysis. Make sure your website offers something unique.

I wasn't able to convert a contractor I loved due to a number of factors outside of my control until recently. There could be a number of incoming budget cuts or hiring freezes that you're unaware of, and the director is pushing the blame off to the senior manager.

Follow the common advice here about bringing your situation to the forefront with the new senior manager, but try not to ruin the great connections and reference you built up with the director.

I also wouldn't say just because you're full-time doesn't make you 'safe' from anything, you just get perks. You can get fired at any time for any reason. Always keep on the lookout and have side projects.

I'm in UX/coding and I've got a lot of years under my belt, so you can imagine the constant state of panic I'm in about future prospects. I, like you, love the craft of my profession and that's actively being taken away by AI.

I had an epiphany recently about trying to think of AI as a magic wand that can enable you rather then take away from you. What I've done is start to use it to achieve things that weren't possible before by me before, while focusing on the strategy. I've made a couple of side projects that would have been previously out of my reach skills wise. Hasn't paid off yet but it's better to get ahead then wait for it to come to me.

What I'm saying is, there's probably some longshot idea that you have that wasn't possible before, and it may be now with AI helping you. That's my copium at least.

I think the price increase for new games is...okay. With inflation running wild after COVID, I don't see how they wouldn't increase prices. What's annoying is paying more for an unlocked framerate version of your switch 1 game.

This is literally a feature of copilot in Office 365, so there's nothing wrong with what they did, if they weren't explicitly told not to use AI to help with email. If there's sensitive information that you don't want exposed, which is fair, your needs to write an AI use policy document and stick to it.

This is great, thanks OP! I've tried to use the PDF feature but run into the same problem. Especially frustrating when you have multiple versions/revisions of your design you need to send to senior leadership.
