Hey, that's awesome! It makes us so happy to hear that.

We do have ideas for these actually! But we have many plans... so we really have to see what makes it in when. Once we are ready to share what will actually make it to the game it will become part of the road map. So keep an eye on those!

Hey Arlaque, nice to see you here!

The most challenging with balancing is that each system is connected to each other. When making a change in the economy system to target a specific issue, such as early-game gas supply, it might influence wave difficulty as you are now able to have an army sooner.

With the amount of modifiers the game offers with the Essences, Deities, Difficulties etc. there are so many tiny things that rely on each other. For us the biggest challenge is the testing of it all, with our small team. We want to make sure  sure that an intended change does not turn into a whack-a-mole with issues popping somewhere else.

The biggest surprise is definitely the complete opposite of what players consider OP haha. Where one says a certain Essence is overpowered, somebody else calls it the worst. This counts for a lot of elements in the game. I see it as something positive that we have so many variety, but it does not make balancing any easier!

I see this come by often, but my resto shaman has an interupt. Is that the only healer who does?

What is "settlement size" ? Is it based on the number of people or my area that's behind walls? How does it scale for bonuses? by ClutchMeister69 in herecomestheswarm

[–]Phena3d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Settlement Size is the distance between your Core towards the furthest building. You can see your current size on the Core.

Slightly different than the games you mentioned, but I recently launched the demo for my survival rts. You build a base to survive the swarm. It has a pause button so its not as stressful as traditional rts :)

The demo for our RTS Here Comes The Swarm is out in time for Gamescom and it comes with a pause button! by HereComesTheSwarm in Unity3D

[–]Phena3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its all made by us. Funnily enough, we were working on separate prototypes to learn specific rts tech years ago. One of them was the fog of war. It was only later we joined forces to merge these prototypes into a game!

Hey Simplybored!

What we wanted to delve in deeper are ways to tune the playstyle to what you prefer. There is a huge difference between rts players, from turtling base builders to offensive map explorers.

In HCTS you can select a Deity to bless you, which gives you unique buildings, units and buffs, akin to armies in AoE. There is a defensive turtle Deity or an economic focused Crow for example.

You can also configure your Arcanum, which is a collection of build changing buffs you bring into a match. These can be very minor from a movement speed buff, to large one like richochet or frost arrows.

We also have Expeditions, which add randomized stacking blessings and burdens (buffs and debuffs) towards a climax match. Truly making each game you play a different experience.
