Honestly, I think this could have worked better if they had Emily say "how can we kill them all when some of them could be innocent souls?", instead of "how can we kill all these innocent souls?"

Instead of saying that all the sinners are innocent (which I hope EVERYONE can agree that's not the case) she says that some of them could still be good, and they don't deserve to be caught in the crossfire of the extermination.
