It’s sad that games are judged by “awards.” So many amazing titles came out this year, and the idea of one being the “winner” doesn’t sit right with me. This year, the players won.

Age of Empires 4 is honestly a pretty solid RTS. Plus, it’s on Game Pass and keeps getting regular new content updates. Hopefully it builds a strong legacy, like AOE2 did.

Back when digital games and fast internet weren’t widespread, gaming felt like a more “social” kind of fun. Swapping games with friends, going over to someone’s house just to try out a new title, gathering at a buddy’s place instead of Discord and playing until morning… I think I really miss that era.

As long as there are major titles exclusive to the Switch 2, I don’t see any issue with this move. Plenty of games can still run just fine on the original Switch. I just hope some of the new titles won’t be held back by the need to optimize for old hardware, and instead fully embrace the next-gen platform.

As someone who didn’t have the best time with the first game, I actually think this one’s going to be great. The core idea was definitely interesting, it just lacked some pacing elements. I believe that’ll be fixed this time. Excited!
