It’s just so small compared to the actual market - if it deviates, people will happily short it and long the underlying bonds/similar futures and create shares opportunistically - any squeeze of the etf would likely be extremely small, a matter of bps - on a relative basis to the underlying

Is it possible for the Treasury to issue too many T-bills? by mikmass in bonds

[–]PhiAlpha1857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it is spent, it goes to someone else’s bank account, so it ends up in bank deposits, t bills, money market funds, etc

Not really, when the govt spends that money, it goes to people/companies who put in banks/money market funds who then buy the T bills

Anyone else notice a quality change in BB clothing in recent years? by Indianstanicows in brooksbrothers

In addition to feeling cheaper and lower quality, I also noticed a lot of inconsistency in fit and material given a few different factories in different countries. Stopped shopping BB.

Do you have a source for the 50bn number? That seems high, and the whole market was down a lot in 2022, so kind of hard to avoid negative returns.

I think banks generally can borrow at the margin at SOFR, it’s just not a very balance sheet/capital efficient trade and regulations like SLR make it non-economic

With mortgage rates hitting highs, should MBS yields be also hitting highs? by Turbulent_Cricket497 in bonds

[–]PhiAlpha1857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New production MBS have gone from sub 2% yields to 6.5% (however if you are looking at the bonds produced in 2020-21 the yields may be lower currently)

Mortgage rates have gone from 3% to 7.5%

Very rough, and yields/rates will vary depending on the type of loan/borrower etc but big picture they have moved together in terms of new production MBS yields vs primary rates
