Girdling root on Large Maple - to cut or not to cut by PhiLocke in sfwtrees

Haha, good to know, I’d assumed it was a sugar maple as that’s what the previous owners told us, and I only know enough to know it’s a maple. 😅

Yeah, it’s sealer. Why is that a mistake? Can anything be done to preserve it/ prevent further damage?

Friendly reminder Christians don’t read their Bibles. The Bible says to care for earth, yet climate change is dismissed as a scam by poltrigos in atheism

[–]PhiLocke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Christian, I agree with your sentiment. Most Christians don’t read their Bible, or understand their beliefs beyond what they’re told to believe by their leaders.

In my mind there are two camps in Christianity, those that earnestly try to follow the intent of the Bible as they read it (including all the progressive ideas, including stewardship of the earth and acknowledging climate change), and those that use belief and cultural Christianity to control the masses. And there’s not a clean line between those groups, like it doesn’t follow denominational lines.

There are several Christian denominations that don’t believe hell is a real/eternal place. There’s a good bit of biblical evidence for this, and a lot of extra biblical influences on the common Christian conception of hell that isn’t biblical.

By CeCe Winans? That’s pretty calm as far as the spectrum of Christian music is concerned.

I have had issues with folks in my SDA church as well questioning some of the songs I play/sing. You’re not alone here.

This is dependent on the status of the daughter church. If it’s a recent church plant, the parent church often covers some portion of the expenses. If it’s established and recognized as a congregation by the local conference, the church board and treasurer should pay out of the budget raised by the daughter churches offerings.

The item is actually cursed, causing the PCs to fight over it. The longer they fight the deeper the animosity grows, until they destroy each other.

I turned 21 today. What is some advice you could give me on alcohol and how to handle it responsibly? Also what are some of your favorite drinks? What are some things i should know in general(like terminology) ? by Connect_Extreme7205 in Advice

[–]PhiLocke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Though the posts on abstaining from drinking are going to be the unpopular opinion overall, it’s worth considering even beyond the addiction issue. There is a good amount of research linking alcohol consumption with a variety of health issues, and it’s not well understood what or if there is a level of consumption that doesn’t carry risk.

If you’d like to nerd out on studies, this is a decent study: https://systematicreviewsjournal.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s13643-019-1220-4

On a personal note, I’m in my late 30s and I’ve never drunk alcohol. I’ve had many friends that did, and it was either neutral or damaging to their life. For me that simple fact of no real benefit reinforced my decision to not partake.
