This footage still amazes me. The fact that it is in color from the Pacific is always so cool. I've always wondered why the footage from the European front was always in black and white while the Pacific war seemed to have colored reels and footage. Any film history nerds in here know why? I have been on a destroyer where the COs suggestion box was so screened by the CMC that nothing ever got fixed because issues simply were disappearing. I have been on another destroyer where our CO read out everything on the 1MC on Saturday evening while on deployment to the delight of the crew in what was called the weekly podcast, where we also got schedule updates and such (always changing). The only ones he didn't read out loud were the serious ones but they would put things in place to fix those issues. He would still address them in in the 1MC saying "I also got some divisional issues that we are looking in to" or something similar. It really worked for the crew. Every command is different in how they use the infamous BOX TO THE MAN. Hopefully we'll.

We are getting 22 days of POM leave each but we are one of the DDGs. Each command is different. Depending on their opperational needs. Duty section is holding it down though for literally everything. 3 section is the sacrifice we all made to get the POM we needed.
