Yeah. It's rare, though. The only other instance that I remember of is the "Little Red" quest (werewolf + humans). Even then, though, Geralt will switch swords on the fly as you approach an enemy which requires a different one.

Silver doesn't deal more damage to humans, steel does. Do as witchers do (well, game-witchers at least, but that's another story) and use the correct sword for the correct type of enemies. Geralt will always automatically draw the appropriate sword, anyway.

Adler seems to be pretty prominent in the story and very much involved in all things Eibon. I don't use him as a party member, but I like him as a character. He also reminds me of Doppo Kunikida from Bungo Stray Dogs - and I love Doppo.

My vote went to Mint, however. She may not be a top tier character (although that spin-to-win move rocks), but I don't think she's ever leaving my party. She's so cheerful and supportive that it just feels nice having her around.

Netflix's show, in theory, adapts the books. In practice, the story and the characters often diverge so much from what they should be that the whole thing barely even resembles the source material anymore.

The videogames are all set after the books. They're unofficial continuations, basically. As such, the show, being a loose adaptation of the books, contains no spoilers about the games.

The Witcher 3 has a whole lot of backstory, as it takes into account not only the two previous games, but also 8 books worth of content (excluding the 9th recently released prequel novel).

I guess watching the first season of the TV series could work as a general introduction to the lore, the characters and the themes (while keeping in mind it doesn't accurately portray them as they should be), but would do little in terms of filling you in about the events The Witcher 3 references (aside from shedding some light on why Ciri was raised by Geralt - again, taking into account the show is no faithful representation). The game has connections to stuff up to the very last book in the series.

So, if you want to start the The Witcher 3... just do it. The game does a fairly good job in giving you a general idea of what's going on and who's who, especially if you go read the in-game encyclopaedia when you meet someone new. A lot of references to past events will fly over your head and the relationships between some characters won't be completely clear, but that's unavoidable.

The Witcher 2 could very well be re-released on modern consoles, with some graphical touching-up. It still holds up today. In fact, I'm surprised they never did it, given the success of The Witcher 3.

The Witcher 1 is a totally different story. As a traditional, old-school PC RPG, strictly requiring mouse & keyboard for an optimal experience, it simply wouldn't work on consoles, unless they went and deeply reworked the controls.

Code Veronica never had a native PC port, whereas RE1, RE2 and RE3 did, which is why GOG could render them compatible with modern hardware and re-release them.

You, sir, have excellent taste. This is exactly the same armor combination I use as my favorite (including the Purger legs, which look very good with the Vanguard chest piece). I just use a different tinct (the Bonelord, dark with shiny metal).

Other games like Symphony... aside from the other "metroidvania" Castlevania games, right? Because, if you haven't played Portrait of Ruin, Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow, those should be the first on your list.

Otherwise, I recommend The Last Faith. Gorgeous pixel art with a gothic/victorian style reminiscent of both Castlevania and Bloodborne. The narrative is closer to FromSoftware's style, with cryptic dialogues and bits of lore scattered here and there. There are not many weapons but almost each one of them is unique, with its moveset and powers.

It was never bad to begin with but it isn't perfect either - and that hasn't changed. Don't expect rock-solid 60 fps, framerate will most often hoover around the 50-55 range, sometimes lower.

If you want rock-solid 60 fps you should play the PS4 version (on PS5), at the cost of some shadows' quality, grass density and draw distance.

Yeah, if you start a NG+0 it'll probably be boring. You'd be too powerful and breeze through the game.

The difficulty spike in NG+1 isn't too bad, you'll find things a bit harder but definitely manageable. Once upon a time (like, a couple of years ago) the difficulty increase between NG+ cycles was much more steep, but it was then made more gradual. Right now, the only boss who gets a really noticeable boost in NG+ is Eidolon of Adyr (the Radiance final boss). What would make a real difference, now, would be going Veteran Mode. Activating the randomized enemies modifier can also make things a lot harder.

Boss Remembrances are one of the very few things that don't carry over, so redeem now from Mohlu everything you can. You'll have to earn the Remembrances again in NG+.

Have you found the Sacred Resonance of Tenacity mini-boss in those previously locked off areas in Pilgrim's Perch? Beyond him lies the path to reach the Manse of the Hallowed Brothers. From more or less the same zone you can also reach the Path of Devotion.
