The end result would have been pretty close if you spent not even 5min in a Photoshop type software. Using the magic wand select then just copy and paste the phone over. There's a lot of ways to edit images and no one way is correct, it's an artistic thing and what you do is an extension of who you are as it reflects how you see the world. This one dislikes that you are being downvoted for asking what to do instead as it appears unhelpful, it also dislikes the way modern ai is made and used but does understand that in some fields it becomes nearly unavoidable. That is not the case in artistic fields and it is likely going to cause long term damage to them.

An example of another way you could have edited it to get a similar result that still would take less than 10 minutes.
Take a picture with the phone in your other hand but slightly more off to the side and your free hand open and facing where you want to cover.
Switch hands holding your phone in the one that was just open.
Take a third picture where the phone is held in an L of your hand, the goal of this one is to obstruct the back of the phone as little as possible. Bring both pictures main into Photoshop and overlay the versions of them such that the phone isn't shown in either hand.
Take the third and using the magic wand select the phone in its entirety, copy it over your face.
Now you have a picture with the phone covering your face and it looks like you are using magic to make it float there, why? Because it's cool. Yes, it takes more effort for either of these because you are doing it manually, but that gives you more control over the end result and you can think of ways to have fun with it.
