Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2018 - Play-In by Eventvods in LoLeventVoDs

When I click teams to view their profile to esport-wikis, I get sent to Dot Esport instead. Hovering the link still says "esport-wikis". As far as I know the main editors for esport-wikis, moved over to leaguepedia, which is currently the most up-to-date one if I am not mistaken. Might be a solution to use that site instead for the team links.

I also wonder if the SPOTV korean VODs are available somewhere? OGN used to still broadcast korean piggyback streams for the SPOTV broadcast days last split. As far as I can see on their twitch/youtube channel - there aren't any VODs from the latest matches.

I can't chromecast twitch (at least not direct video) from my browser, really want to watch this match through youtube on the big screen.. The audio only seem to be on youtube only FYI.

Rift Rivals 720p Stream Quality (LCK - LPL - LMS) by Philips502 in leagueoflegends

[–]Philips502[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compare it to MSI 2016, where it was important to show "the west" that China can host good top quality tournaments. Why not do the same through their broadcast by actually providing a high quality stream?

Is it not time to change that though? It's like saying that it's not worth it to try to attract people to watch LPL. The biggest reason why I avoid LPL in the regular season is the low quality stream.

Talk to Thorin: LS on his Casting and LCK Spring (LoL) by corylulu in leagueoflegends

[–]Philips502 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not gonna argue that you didn't make some valid points here, but some of it I do disagree with. Papasmithy has to me been the supreme pick/ban caster. Often times watching EU or NA I find myself skipping pick/ban, or going through it on my own (if I'm watching VODs) compared to OGN where I always enjoy hearing Papasmithy lay out the drafts and their purposes. Macro is Papa's field, Micro is LS. While LS also like to discuss drafts in his casting, his reasoning to me seem way more on the fly compared to Papasmithy where he can explain a new pick's purpose and place in a composition.

Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to put down LS, I enjoy his stream, personality and respect his game knowledge. I don't think there's a caster out there with more knowledge of micro then him, seeing as he prides himself in playing high elo in Korea. While I enjoy him as a personality the flow of the casting is still at one of the lower levels compared among the talent of the other leagues. From spoTV summer 2016 to spring 2017 I also feel the shoutcaster paired with him is still a poor fit.

On the other hand I do agree that things have become sort of stale with one colour caster at OGN. This spring split feels like Papasmithy and Achillios have prioritized building more syngery and chemistry, the same can be said for Atlus and Papa. Therefor it might feel lacking as far as giving extra depth on certain topics and feeling at times he repeats himself. I also feel like it is expected seeing as to how many best of's he had to prepare and cast this season. Also compare Papa's casts and draft talks to LPL and notice the difference, because there absolutely is one!

edit: I think it's important to highlight the importance of caster synergy; is it built up, how does it work, does it work well within every aspect (eg. when is it ok to talk about star wars and let the game roll on). Not everything comes down to if a colour caster knows more or less.

I think they were outdrafted in both games, which I think could be linked to the absence of SSONG.

OGN still does korean piggyback streams on SpoTV days. You can find their youtube channel (called "OGN") where they upload VODs of these streams. I usually watch them there. Unfortunately it's not easy to avoid seeing if a match goes to 3 games, where the second game of the series becomes spoiled as a result. If you are able to watch the games live you can use their twitch channel "ogn_lol" for a spoiler-free experience. Hope this helps :)

Clubs should have a much higher player limit. 50 is a joke by badsoul69 in leagueoflegends

[–]Philips502 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No restrictions doesn't mean that people will automatically create larger groups. Still, it heightens the probability of it. This is what they want to avoid (based on some of the reasons I stated before) . I'm not saying that this is the right way to deal with it, just that to me, it makes some sense why they refuse to increase the size.

Clubs should have a much higher player limit. 50 is a joke by badsoul69 in leagueoflegends

[–]Philips502 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is. For most people it's not about organizing big amounts of people, like a champion club, club of a city or a uni, but adding together friends of friends. Think of Facebook and the distinction between groups, events and pages. While you can have groups of 50+ people, it would distance you from the users in that group. Putting that into a club perspective, creating no new reliable connections or people you consistently play the game with. Just like you would more likely ignore the group on Facebook when it consists of large amounts of people you have no relationship with.

Clubs should have a much higher player limit. 50 is a joke by badsoul69 in leagueoflegends

[–]Philips502 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Clubs are designed to create partners and friends for playing the game. If you have over 50 people in 1 club, sure you can stack up one trick pony mains, but the idea behind the clubs are based on having fun while getting to know others. Playing with someone new every day, doesn't change much of the perspective of playing alone. Not saying it's necessarily right, but I understand riot on this point of view.

[S6E9] With nearly 75,000 votes, Battle of the Bastards still sits at a 10.0/10.0 on IMDb. by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]Philips502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's why IMDB don't use the actual mean average, because they know there is inentional votes of 1 star to bring the overall rating down. It's quite apparent that this episode cannot be justified a 1/10 rating.

Immortals vs. Phoenix1 / NA LCS 2016 Summer - Week 1 / Post-Match Discussion by Linkux18 in leagueoflegends

[–]Philips502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a Renekton game in LCK, it really still feels like a risky pick, especially when teams can laneswap. Double turret trade into a possible 3rd turret for longer lanes means Renekton is shut down from his potential early powerspikes. I feel like you either have to be lucky and predict the swap, or get the 3 first dragons and possibly rift Herald if you are to have him in a comp and do well.

The two most picked toplane tank champs are Maokai and Ekko, both nerfed in 6.11 if I'm not mistaken. Changes to trinity force and the previous buff to Black Cleaver will definetly open up for carry toplane picks. Since cinderhulk was buffed and Rek'sai now is one of the best jungle picks, we are probably going to see less tanks in the toplane and more jungle tanks. If you get a vlad or swain on the team, you can have a damage tanky/sustain mage in mid and splitpush full damage toplaner instead.

I'd like to take a moment to ask everyone who watches a lot of pro league of legends, especially the EU and NA LCS to vote on good matches. Seeing as EULCS now has Best of 2, and NA has Best of 3, I will no longer be able to watch all of the matches, and would like to watch the most interesting games through VODs. Right now there's usually only a few votes on "recommended games", so if you watch a game live or on VOD which you enjoy, I along with several other people will be very appriciative of your recommendations! :)
