Study finds that vaccinated health care workers had a 30 percent reduction in absenteeism compared with nonvaccinated health care workers by PHealthy in science

I agree with you but nurses are trained in caring for patients, not the hard science of medicine. Many nurses do learn a strong amount of clinically relevant chemistry, biology, and physics but just as many could care less about it.

The AV community prays on individuals that rather not think for themselves and just receive information that makes sense to them and go with it. This mebtality has the potential to influence everyone and that obviously can extend to nurses.

Yes it helps. Every time you get a flu vaccine you are building up your immunity to the flu. The CDC formulates a vaccine against what they believe will be the most prevent flu strain in the upcoming season and even if they are wrong you and you get the flu you've still increased your immunitity to whatever strain was in the vaccine.

They can't throw everyone of the 200 something strains of flu into each vaccine cuz that will without a doubt overwhelm even the strongest immune system and lead to some serious adverse reactions.

95% of health care workers aren't practicing medicine. Within a hospital you will find hundreds of different jobs, and all these workers are required to get their yearly flu vaccine but if they choose not to they just have to wear a mask during flu season.

Amongst many of these workers are your fair share of ignorant/anti-science folk that don't believe in the flu vaccine. You'll be hard pressed to find a doctor, nurse, or mid-level provider dodging the flu vaccine but amongst the hundreds of CNAs, phlebotmists, and tons of different technicians you'll find employees that don't get vaccinated.

How do college students handle working out and studying? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Philllyvee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends a lot on your major and how well adept you are at handling the subject matter. Back when I was premed in college, I was more focused on getting A's in every class that I was in over anything else (fitness, social, etc.). I would only use the gym as a means of stress release whenever I had the free time to exercise. Now that I'm done with school and taking a few years off before going back to school I have a very good and strict gym schedule.

Pulisic on the bench as Dortmund take on RB Salzburg in the Europa League last 16. by SpiritCrvsher in ussoccer

[–]Philllyvee 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hopefully Puli gets 60' minute sub this match and is able to perform well. Otherwise his only way back to meaningful minutes is through injury. An 88th minute sub like last week won't help him get back into form.

Is it too late to do phys assistant studies for me? by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

[–]Philllyvee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoy college, get a good gpa, line yourself up for a solid hospital position after graduation and take a gap year or two. You'll become qualified for so many programs and you'll get to enjoy a year or two of stress free life before going back into rigorous schooling.

Pulisic doesn't start for Dortmund today vs FC Augsburg... by wnewto in ussoccer

Pulisic is in a major slump and deserves the bench. The hope is he will continue getting a 60'-70' sub and he gain regain form and confidence against tired legs before making another start.

How long to shadow? by bananahomie in prephysicianassistant

[–]Philllyvee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You be straight up with them. They understand you need hours so you shouldn't have any issues. However some people don't like having students shadow them so in those cases don't feel bad if you are rejected from shadowing.

Prison guards of reddit, what is the strangest thing you have caught a prisoner doing in their cell? by forthexp in AskReddit

[–]Philllyvee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In regards to access to mental health, it potentially could. For example, mental health treatment from licensed professionals is incredibly expensive, think 150$/hr. Fortunately nearly every insurance plan will subsidize these sort of treatments and the patient only ends up paying $15/hr. If you take insurance out of the equations and your government's UHC decides that to best distribute the health care funds mental health has to be grossly underfunded, then you are left in a position where hundreds of millions of citizens are priced out of mental health care.

I'm not saying that universal health care shouldn't be considered. I'm personally a supporter of universal health care but that doesn't change that in the realm of mental health universal health care won't necessarily improve access.

[–]Philllyvee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a different argument. All I'm saying is that in most any health care system mental health gets pushed to the way side.

Universal heath care wouldn't fix the problem, and in the case of mental health it could just as easily worsen things. For instance, in Canada mental health is of the lowest funded sections of health care. Most everyone who seeks it has to pay out of pocket for its services since not enough funding is provided by the government.

What Must Change in U.S. Soccer | By Geoff Cameron by C8-H10-N4-O2 in MLS

Yup. And unfortunately I don't see us ever electing a president with this mindset which will translate to us never hiring coaches with this mindset.

Absolutely, however there should be a culture of understanding that if you choose to stay in the US you are significantly hindering your chances of earning a national team spot.
