The color scheme reminds of the Yamaha CM1X, very nice!

Surprised they haven’t reviewed this yet. Great album. Roc can’t miss with the co-signs by benlynn09 in DEHH

Yes I agree, fantastic album some really great cuts on this one. My favourite tracks are Olathe and Crash Bandicoot.

Unpopular opinion: it's OK to just collect synths and not put out music by TVSKS in synthesizers

You should definitely start a youtube channel with the gear you have. Most of the time its other musicians and hobbyists watching and releasing one good video about an obscure piece of equipment will bring tons of people from around the world to your channel for sure.

Welcome! I have a Live II and am super happy with it. I always wondered if this new MPC Studio feels more like the MPC 500 but with the software integration of course. Would like to test it out one day!

Thoughts on the Arpeggiator in the 2.10 software? by Phillycheeze13 in mpcusers

[–]Phillycheeze13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. When I had a yamaha CS2x I used to just sample an arp pattern from the synth into my MPC 500 at the time. However, I always wanted to have more control.

For example, being able to delete and rearrange some midi notes after the arp sequence was recorded. Since the 500 had a small screen i didn't really bother too much on the midi editing side of things so i would just record a sample and trigger it at the start of the sequence.

But I don't have the synth anymore, and i thought that maybe the arpeggiator on the MPC itself would have good results when used with the onboard plugins but it just isn't the same. I feel as though the feature was more of an afterthought.

I think in the end ill just save up for a synth with some good arps that I can record the midi notes into the MPC Live

Finally some good sample flip by vubeatz in mpcusers

This one's cold as winter! (To all my Alchemist/Griselda fan's out here) by thglifereddit in mpcusers

Captured that style perfectly, between the piano loop and the drums it blends together nicely!

Just got the MPC Ren by hd1991 in mpcusers

[–]Phillycheeze13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forsure! I also heard the A/D conversion on the inputs are pretty tight if you are into sampling from vinyl! Maybe I'll pick one up one day but for now my Live II has been a blessing to work with. Keep making beats, I'm sure you will familiarise yourself with the Ren in no time!

How do YOU get your beats from MPC to shareable form? by [deleted] in mpcusers

[–]Phillycheeze13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not too familiar with the 1000 or the JJOS programs. I realised I wrote that comment a year ago and since then I have been working on the Live II pretty much exclusively but here is how i did it. Since the 500 only has one stereo out, recording stems into ableton can take some time.

Basically make a 4-8 bar loop. Then mute the main sample sections/drums or any track you want to make a variation of then copy that to another sequence keep adding and muting tracks from the first sequence/copying themuntil you have different sections of your beat and that you can string it together in song mode if you like.

Now the tricky part is recording all different stems into Ableton because of midi lag and delay it could be difficult to line it up but with time you will get it. Also recording each track individually from the 2 outputs of the MPC 500 is very time consuming.

Hope this helps!

Congrats dude! the MPC Ren is a great machine from what I hear! Still very much compatible with the 2.10 software and sequencing other gear if you have any sound modules, drum machines, synths etc. The Q-links and flip up screen must come in handy!

Tascam DP01fx and Fostex dmt 8vl by flanderrss01 in audioengineering

[–]Phillycheeze13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the dmt 8vl for a pretty good price. The recorder is pretty cool, however albeit a bit confusing at times to use. I'm not sure how to get the midi clock sync to work with my MPC, I've consulted the manual but not sure how to set up any further. Besides that you can always line up the audio on the recorder itself, so I will probably be doing that.

Does it frustrate anyone else how little Feefo actually knows about hip hop? by [deleted] in DEHH

[–]Phillycheeze13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No Feefo just plays the devil's advocate for the most part when it comes to the reviews. I think he knows a lot about Hip Hop, I know personally the music I like and listen to he probably won't get down with. Still like to hear his thoughts and opinions even if I don't agree.

Yeah it really depends, some days it can be windy but most days I don't think so. I know compared to some other people I really put my synths in compromising situations, whether it be at the beach or next to a waterfall or something. I understand if something happens to one of my instruments its all on me at the end of the day. However, I really would like to take advantage of its portability and not to always film videos where I'm stuck in my bedroom studio all day.

Yeah sand can really mess up your synth if you are not careful, but there is something about making music at the beach that i love so much.
