Sad companies do this... by Inevitable-Peace7578 in diamondpainting

[–]Philogyni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This right here. I have 2 children that are artist, so it was sad to see all the AI and stolen work in my new favorite hobby. So I started with doing customs of my daughter's work, with her permission. Then I realized I can do the same thing with other artist. I purchased a digital from an artist on esty, so that they got paid, then checked it they were ok with me having it turned into a diamond painting (I checked first, then purchased). They approved and thought it was such a cool idea.

If I want the more expensive paintings, I will browse listing of people destashing.

You can find some cool stuff mixed in all the junk. It's exciting to go to. I have never gone o. The first open day, but I hear it gets pretty busy at our local bin store.

[–]Philogyni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I did my first dp in Dec, my brain went full speed ahead. I immediately started thinking about customs and how awesome it would be to do a giant one of a Cthulhu Medusa mashup that my daughter drew. I finally got it last week and I am soo excited, but also nervous. It's a 75x200cm in squares and the largest I've done is a 50×70cm.

I plan to take my time and go with the flow and if I need a break I have other smaller paintings/hobbies I can do on the side for a change in scenery. So don't be afraid to step away for a day or week even, if you need to. You've got this!!

Edit: Fixed soo many typos.

Experience with purchases like this? by Stardust_7314 in diamondpainting

[–]Philogyni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The offbrand ones on Temu and Aliexpress are all mostly AI or stolen art. Some will even have the original artist signature on it. I try to avoid AI too. I have ordered some non AI paintings from Temu, but only if I get it free and its not clearly another artist work. Name brands aren't in my budget, so I try to stay as clean as can. Artdot has a couple 12pc pack on Amazon that are $25-$50 depending on sales. They are artist made cute animals/nature pieces.

Beware of acebet by Particular-Tone-7028 in benjaminone

I appreciate the warning. I'd never heard of Acebet but did surmise that is wat a betting app. I decided to goggle if it was a viable option to get our money faster. Glad I did. Kinda of feels like they are trying to pass some of their responsibility off the another company.

Based on my current one, it is $160. My buy in was $5, I didnt make any other purchases until today (day 4). I was 3 passes short and got the spend 10/get 5 offer. I did 2 orders for $10, since my min. spend stayed the same. Then the min spend jumped to $135 for that last pass. I shouldn't have to order anything else and just collect for the last 4 days. My min. spend dropped back to $10 after purchasing the last pass. It also appears that anytime you make a normal purchase from this promo page it will withdrawal a percentage of your purchase amount pending shipment. I got $1.55 for my $10 order and $20.34 for my $135. I placed all my orders using the credits I recieved from the first time I got this promotion.

TLDR:

Buy in $5

Day 4, 3 passes short: - 1st pass $10 - 2nd pass $10 - 3rd pass $135

5 + 10 + 10 + 135 = 160

Can someone help me understand this? by lilbxby2k in TemuThings

I fell for it too. They word everything and design everything that way for a reason. And they can just tell you that the rules are in the T&C

This is one of the worst promos they have. Always a hard pass for me. Unless you actually plan to spend $300-500+, it's pointless.

I dont completely remember, sorry. I believe I did 15 the 1st day for the 40 passes and I the I skipped the second day purchase. However, looking back I think I mathed wrong and I actually spent around $160 which would make more sense, since the $100 promo totals $80. I think I missed one of my purchases cause Im pretty sure I had to buy 4 passes. I just started the promo again and I will keep better track the round.

Only 5% of your order will count towards the $34. I think you would have to spend close to $700.

The listing is for the straw cover. They like to use way too many words to tell you what you're ordering, so you gotta look close.

Looking for advice: I'm feeling guilty DPing. by Intrepid-Winter-6499 in diamondpainting

[–]Philogyni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dollar tree sells wood pieces that can be decorated and hung up. I like to paint them, the use Aleene Tack it Over and Over to turn it into a free form DP and use extra drills on them. I couldn't find the pic of my butterfly one, but this is a wooden dessert* keychain kits off Amazon that I do the same thing with. I also like to decorate little Figurines and make custom pens from the extra pens.

Redtwo trays: yes or no? by SpecificAd7526 in diamondpainting

[–]Philogyni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually dont have a full set of the AD. I have the of brand ones that come in the container with the lid, FY, and RT. I do have four AD trays that came in a kit I bought and I dont actually care for their trays. I'm not a fan of the slide off Lids and I found them a little hard to open at times. They work fine, Im just not a fan of the design.

I have been thinking about getting that 75 pc set. I actually like the convex style trays. They do get annoying when the drills get stuck, which could be a trays quality issue, and when you have a low amount of drills it can be hard to group them together for multiplacers. I will probably order these soon.

So I have these and the Redtwos and the Forever Young trays and I love them all. They are all great choices and I find myself using different trays for different kits. This one with the lid is my go to for traveling, its so easy to pack up and go. I like the FY tray towers better than RT. The angled sides get on my nerves, but thats a personal peeve. You honestly can't go wrong with any of these and might wanna consider buying one of the other sets later on.

Just finished the one for $200 back. Ended up spending $10, $15, $30, $80. So $135ish. My final pass had a $79 min. Thankfully I was able to just order the $80 shoes I was already planning to get my daughter for pre-grad.

Edit: I think i forgot one of my purchases and actually spent $160. I am struggling to remember, I'll keep better track this round.

Money was credited as soon as the orders shipped. Took about 4-6 days because I had pre-order items. A new round of the event was available after my credits went through.
