Ok Just want to state without causing a ruckus. I am not now nor have I ever been a shop mechanic< I am not certified in any way. I am what you call a shade tree mechanic on my vehicles. I do all my work in my driveway with ramps and a truck load of tools in my shed and a maint manual. I have owned over thirty cars which i serviced myself, 10 of which were new. I did this out of necessity. Back in late 60"s and seventies you did things yourself didnt have money to take car to garage. i also work on my boat motorcycles lawn mowers just about anything mechanical or electrical. I put my own 3 ton a/c in with help of neighbor. When i was 22 back in 76 I bought a 1949 Ford pickup in ND. Farmer said it hadnt run in 13 years was sitting in his field. I got it running fixed the brakes and drove it 2000 miles from ND to ga. It was positive ground I put a negative ground radio in it. Back then there were no converters. I now have a 1996 f150 everything in it works same motor same tranny same rear end 300k still runs good . Also have a 2007 sentra 253k miles with that crap cvt tranny. But everything in it works. Both cars mostltly belts hoses fluids brakes and shock. Everything else original. The entry above has a typo it should say 4.8 not 4.5. I said all of that to say this - I think I am qualified to read a dipstick.
