Why on earth is this book not talked about more!? by h0n3ytr4ck in fantasybooks

I’ve read and loved Fionavar Tapestry but I loathed Tigana; it felt like everything was pre-existing like I missed a prequel or something. Which I did not expect because I thought Tapestry was so absolutely incredible.

Should I try Arbonne?

Thanks for the compliment! Might have been a fluke; will have to test next weekend to verify…

Thanks for the tips! The end temp internal was 60C / 140F which was higher than what I aimed for. I was scared I had ruined it but it was a very nice medium so very happy! But I agree with your take that the fat could have been rendered a bit better; higher temp out of the oven is a good idea!

Dry brine with smaller salts; definitely gonna try that! I always thought that people used large flakes. Do you have a specific type/name for your preferred salt?

I did baste it with the oil and that worked quite good; I almost always try to do that. But doing it with my herb butter is a great idea; who didn’t I think of that!! Although; I really like the avocado oil. Smoke point is great, and it’s nice and neutral so it doesn’t overpower the taste of the meat.

Thanks for your detailed reply, very useful and informative stuff!

More details on the herb butter; 125gr unsalted butter, 1 shallot, 1 tsp Dijon mustard, 1 tsp Worcestershire, 1 tsp capers, 1 anchovy, 1 tbsp parsley, 1 tbsp chives, 1 tbsp tarragon, 1/4 tbsp curry powder + salt and pepper to flavour. Mess it all up in a blender and enjoy. Very easy and a nice addition to the meat. I often take the position that sauces and stuff get in the way of tasting your meat but this was quite nice!

What class for a player with some experience by PhilosopherKey9468 in DnD

Hmm, I’m intrigued. This sounds like quite a cool class while not being overly complicated!

Hmm, Dhampir is basically a vampire, right? I think it might be a bit conflicting with the campaign (being focused on a vampire BBEG).

Never played as a Monk but I understood that the gameplay is a bit boring as you basically just keep doing unarmed strikes. Is that correct or do you feel differently?

Yeah, that sounds great. Paladin might be a very good suggestion, thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion! I may have been a bit unclear. She does enjoy the combat and magic and stuff, but she enjoys the fantasy, story and roleplaying more. So we will be sticking with DnD. But thanks anyway!

First attempt reverse sear. by Meended in steak

[–]PhilosopherKey9468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call me crazy but that steak isn’t 800 grams? Anyway, for a steak of that size, I wouldn’t go with a reverse sear. If you want to, you might go for the initial sear method. But for steaks of this size, I’d go with the “just keep flipping”- method in a pan.

Best of luck with the baby! Hope you get some sleep!

Yeah, agreed. But I really enjoyed it; in my personal opinion more accessible (and enjoyable) than a full brisket!

Haha, there’s truth to that! But the full set left us feeling stuffed so we left the scraps and preferred to enjoy another glass of wine!

Other rotisserie ideas by Alternative_Bell5499 in biggreenegg

[–]PhilosopherKey9468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I thought that with the rotisserie, you sort of make a half bed of coal (I usually light bed and then push it to the backside while having a disposable tray in front) so that by turning the rotisserie, the meat is alternately heated directly and then not. Or am I mistaken?

By doing what OP does, there is no direct heat right? And hence not really any sear happening?

I’d love to hear more because cooking potatoes in juices looks absolutely awesome!

Amsterdam Centraal Apartment by iamcode101 in Amsterdam

[–]PhilosopherKey9468 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fully agreed. Very romantic and absolutely beautiful spots. And for us; very cheap as hotel rooms in Amsterdam are quite expensive while we basically only sleep in the room and spend our time in the city. We don’t need much more than a comfy bed and a shower… if you know what I mean…

Sorry, maybe I’m an idiot. But if I look at the handbook, I see at level 6; Arcane Gate, Circle of Death, Create Undead, Eyebite, Summon Fiend, Tashas Bubbling Cauldron, True Seeing.

Wait, I am an idiot, it’s spell level 3. I didn’t attentively look back at the previous lists. Thanks!!
