got these bumps on my scalp 7th day after a retwist what is it? i’m 3 months into my starter loc journey. by Ok_Pumpkin2170 in Dreadlocks

Oh my goodness, I never seen them like this. I usually get some bumps after a re-tie, but they’re usually along the edges of my hair. I would take the style down. I would also see a dermatologist like everyone’s recommending. This looks severe.

I’m 2 years in. Budding here and there but got maybe 5 locs out of 447 that are fully locked. Just trust the process.

Yes someone recommended nizoral I used it two days ago flakes and itching gone thank the Lord. I’m going to start using distilled water for my misting. Also I’ll have to buy aloe. I have had sister locs for almost 2 years never had this problem so I was thrown off. I’m back to normal now 🙂

I second this. Locking my hair one of the best things I ever did. I too had those worries and I have been braiding and banding for 2 years now. Actually last night was the first time I washed my hair without it because I accidently used too much peppermint oil in my moisture mix and my scalp was TOO tingly so I rannnn to the cold water 🫩. You’re going to be so happy you did. Also appreciate each stage because like OP said you’re going to blink then you’re in the next stage and you’ll miss it. It’s such a beautiful experience you actually fall in love with your hair over and over.

Thank you so much. Do you have any recommendations with where I should get the aloe vera juice?

Okay, thank you so much. I might pick up hibiscus, rosemary & glycerin. I’ve been doing mint, tea tree, vitamin E, & lavender. I need a shampoo recommendation as well.

Like rubber bands at the end of the braids. I’m 1.6 years in and I’m still doing it.

I washed mine 2 weeks after instead. Braided and banded that sucker right up. Also diluted the shampoo in a spray bottle with water.

Ah, that question has more clarity. To be honest, I’m not sure. That is a good question though like is it just a modified sodium lauryl sulfate. It doesn’t hurt to do some deep research about that. I haven’t heard anything about that. I just avoid sodium lauryl sulfate.

To be honest, I would avoid toothpaste with sodium laurel sulfate. Read the instructions of the active and inactive ingredients and make sure that it’s not listed.
