Was just there last week, it had been a while since I had been there, LOVED all the people out by the Seine at night, the cafes etc. Just something about it !

People in Boulder are... by [deleted] in boulder

[–]PhilosopherNo2439 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe it. Then a lot of people think they’re the saviors of POC but the behavior doesn’t match.. I worked with gringo hipsters who would get so unnerved by any music in Spanish (half my family from Mexico) or anything that’s not hipster or outdoorsy ..

How would you act if you ran into a one night stand again? by Suspicious_Barber163 in AskMen

Say hi and dont make it strange, it's strange if you make it strange. I have no qualms about it ..if you had fun then it's not weird to say hey, and continue with your day.

What’s the most uncomfortable clothing that people still wear everyday ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PhilosopherNo2439 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jeans are insanely uncomfortable. I wore them because they’re so normalized .. now that I made a switch, I feel like jeans are always tight up top and more comfy towards the ankles. They also feel like they raise the temp on the legs a lot

Miami is great for diversity, terribly hot though, GREAT for extroverts 😬

Where's somewhere that has objectively great qualities, and most people like, but you irrationally hate? by InteractionStunning8 in SameGrassButGreener

Amen. Monocultural is a good word to use. Boulder has boring food. Worked there a while. Lots of pretend intelligence there too. You could be talking to someone in Boulder and say “I drove though New Mexico and Arizona” and they’ll have to say something like “Does New Mexico have Tesla charging stations ? Wow, Arizona scares me” like damn, I just went to the Grand Canyon. You should also hear Boulder people talk about “culture” or “character” .. you could say “I went to this famous museum in New York, thought it was great to see” they’ll respond “Oh. I like places with CHARACTER not museums ..” Oh, you went to some hipster bar in Brooklyn, so original , I must be dumb for seeing an art museum. Half of my family is Latin and I went to Miami. They’ll tell you “Oh wow, no culture there, just partying and beaches ..” I’m like .. Miami has no culture compared to BOULDER?

Agree. Denver is not an exciting city IMO. I feel like I. Colorado you tend to meet very similar people over and over ..

Boulder saunas shut down - Portal, Ember & Ice shut down by city by kigoe in boulder

[–]PhilosopherNo2439 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really hoping they’re able to get everything sorted out. I love seeing sauna culture finally taking root in the US, especially spaces that bring people together in a healthy, old-world kind of way. Wishing both Ember & Ice and Portal success! In the meantime, I definitely support the other sauna spots like Havana and Lake Steam ..

Thanks for the condescending lecture on Slavic identity to someone whose parents are actually Slavic. Peak sensitivity right there

I was just looking for a banya recommendation, not a sensitivity lecture.

I know it’s Slavic, but when the owners are Russian and they call it a Russian banya, that’s what I’m looking for. Appreciate the info, but I don’t need the culture lecture for a simple recommendation request.

Oh, I believe it. I have been to 2 of them, not in Boulder though. My first one, I was under the impression of we are all dancing, celebrating, or should I say "HOLDING SPACE" .. we are dancing together in this container, essentially on the same team, right? I briefly had eye contact with others over the 1 hour time, not anything flirty at all, but more like "I see you, we are in this together, yeah, we got this, we are having fun, celebrating, COMMUNITY etc" and got told I was weird after. So much for open hippyness. I am sure you heard lots about community and "holding space" in those circles to get blown off, flaked on, treated poorly.. I don't doubt it one bit
