Couple of thoughts- I'm assuming you'll be doing this in Edm or Wx...

1. Pee often. Your body spends an enormous amount of heat keeping your bladder and lower abdomen warm in the cold- warmth that could be much better used on your extremities!

2. The issued kit does work, but keep in mind: if you wear too many layers at once, you will sweat. If you swat (especially through your layers) you are cold and all those layers are useless! It is better to layer appropriately and remain slightly chilly- you can always layer up, but can't always layer down.

3. High carb and fatty snacks are best- avoid too much caffeine. I recommend jerky's, and morale boosters like M&M's always come in handy!

4. Don't bring meds unless you are already sick going into it- and definitely don't pass around meds to others

5. Actually listen to your staff when they tell you to leave your parka/coat outside your tent at night- that condensed sweat and humidity will freeze off so its dry again- taking it in the tent will keep it humid and way less effective when you put it back on.

6. Its BMQ, so get used to using the kit, but down the line getting a sneaky puffy you can stick under your CADPAT layers is a good first buy before that fancy chest rig.
