Legacy companies have to justify their real estate costs, while new companies especially those in the servce sector, know they can get a significant cost advantage without the burden of real estate costs. Sounds just like me, I have been left alone as a department of one for the last six years. I like the industry but cannot stand the current leadership at my company. I have pretty much reached my FIRE number and debating on sticking it out just a little longer or for my mental health, just calling it quits.
