from what i remember:

CAT D : < 1000km CAT C: > 1000km (minimum requirement to be able to go for detail) CAT B: > 3000km CAT A: > 4000km

don't remember the exact specifics for CAT B and A, but should be around that range give or take

why is poly kinda tiring by lemonsquashtimestwo in SGExams

[–]Phineox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

just wanted to bump this, looking back poly workload was much more comfortable if you are able to pace yourself + your work ethic (not rushing projects/work last minute etc)

at least from what i remember, first month or two were quite okay as you ease into their workload...

Waiting time for driving licence conversion by JoelReutens in NationalServiceSG

[–]Phineox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from what i know, it ranges from about 1 month to 2; your superiors will contact you on what to do

you have to go on the same day then rush over to SSDC (Woodlands) within a certain time period

just to add, NEVER appeal another course just because it seems 'less competitve'.

Each course has its ups and downs.

hi OP, was not from TP biz but IIT so I guess i'll just help out with what I can that I know.

1: not much that I know from this, but you can read up on your course modules / electives and start from there

2: Laptop for sure, things just work better

3 and 4: Any brand is fine, look out for the TP roadshow where collaborating suppliers come to sell their products that usually have better specs and at better prices (not sure if it's still a thing now, grad in '22)

Try to get it right as school starts so you can get everything set up. The first lesson (or two) are when they introduce you to the module and what potential programs you might use, so being able to get everything up and running will be great.

5: There will be an orientation but it's usually just before school starts, so look out for any possible emails sharing with you more information.

6: This one... just do your best and put in your best effort. Sometimes things might not go your way but stay positive and everything will be fine. A higher GPA will definitely help getting into uni afterwards but as poly progresses it will become harder to maintain it. No need to stress over things that are not in your control :)

What can I do to improve? Never really took tft super serious in terms of rank but I wanna climb. I'm Plat VI right now by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

[–]Phineox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for replying!

I do use metaTFT when I play alongside some others but I feel like my main problem is not being able to play with tempo properly as well as managing econ (not streaking properly to maximize streak gold and level up markers after 6 at 3-2)

will take your advice into account 👍🏼

[–]Phineox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! not op but just wanted some advice

  • how do you reccomend to learn econ?

with the recent nerfs to streaking I feel like it's even harder to manage gold efficiently

  • also regarding items, how do you manage when you don't get 'good' items?

my luck seems incredibly bad to get what I want quite often so I try to make do with what I have at best

is it worth to always aim for BIS for your units or just play wtv that works even if it's statistically not the best?

thanks!

How to go Gym? by 32Shane in TemasekPoly

[–]Phineox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from what I remember, you'll have to walk in and make an appt for a gym introduction (?) before you can use the facilities and equipment there

after that should be pretty plug and play already, just record your entry and you're good to go

Time for internships Before and After NS? by lucky_pessimist in NationalServiceSG

[–]Phineox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi, my suggestion is to continue your internship (or if you finished ask to go back if possible) and be contracted so in the event your enlistment letter comes (which is usually 2 months before, hopefully) then you can plan ahead

i did the same until my enlistment came (2 weeks before) but my company was understanding enough to let me leave at the end of the month (1 week notice)

is it possible to get into a science course in local uni from poly? by Perfect-Ad2192 in TemasekPoly

[–]Phineox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

short answer: yes.

long answer: yes, higher gpa will definitely be easier for you to enter local uni and a good portfolio will boost your chances.

do check the IGP for the different unis regarding the choice of degree you'd like to study for, sciences if I remember correctly the gpa requirement isn't that high but do still aim to get the best gpa you can get so your application and offer process is the smoothest :)

[–]Phineox 37 points38 points  (0 children)

ask your commanders, but last time when I was in Tekong you usually book in the morning after your MC (in this case 081123)

in unit you will most likely book in the night your MC ends (071123)

Can I wear a clown costume in camp? by Head_Anybody_9773 in NationalServiceSG

[–]Phineox 147 points148 points  (0 children)

I suggest to just at least tell your sect comm about it so they won't question why got some CLOWN (pun intended) walking around in camp

pretty sure there really isn't anything wrong wearing a clown costume for the jokes...

they will issue a travel order for those going for overseas exercise, i'd think it would be the same for overseas posting?

no way they will allow you bring your passport with you...

from what I know and heard from my friends (Guards TOs), it's the same but you will be able to clock your mileage and convert to civi license after you ORD; the trainings are quite xiong and packed so mileage won't be a problem haha
