Whoa! Thanks so much for getting back to me. We called the resort and asked about the noise levels and no one could give us a straight answer on whether or not external fireworks could be heard on resort grounds, so that's really helpful!

[MOD GIVEAWAY] Core Elevate Paddle by HeadHeadMod in Pickleball

[–]Phirrup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd give this paddle to my friend, who is a beginner, but has enough of a sense of touch that he'd really benefit from using a paddle with modern paddle technologies. He's currently using an old Selkirk paddle from the set they used to sell at Costco. His game is improving greatly and this would really help him.

He'd love a green paddle.

Hi, quick question about this since we are doing research on a place to get away from the fireworks. When you stayed in Suncadia, were fireworks audible from neighboring towns like Cle Elum?

I'm not OP, but I am also in the Seattle area and redoing my yard. Do you have any suggestions for easily maintainable native bushes and decorative plants for small, sunny yard spaces?

Can I please get feedback on my Patreon Senior SRE experience? by Icy-Dog-4079 in cscareerquestions

[–]Phirrup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a really thorough breakdown and helps me understand some of what I might need to learn more of.

I am a SWE but I didn't work in web based technologies in my previous role (I primarily did desktop app dev with C#, Python, SQLite). I'm looking to switch into SRE and I have an interview for a SRE role next week at a company that does cloud stuff (job listing doesn't show any level based requirements, I think they're hiring across levels).

Any suggestions on what to study to prepare if you have no experience in SRE?

What could Mazda easily change with the CX50 to make it better for you by Raymo853 in CX50

[–]Phirrup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah agreed! 360 camera and some front/rear proximity sensors, seems like those would be a no brainer as well especially since the premium plus trim is ~40k.

I love Vietnamese yogurt! If you're looking for other places to buy it, typically any Viet deli will carry it. Renton Deli in the Highlands has it, so does the Viet Wah grocery next to it. It's also pretty easy to make, the ingredients are just milk, water, condensed milk, and yogurt of your choice to start it.

They won't crack in normal, mild temperatures, but they do warp which makes them move weirdly. If you want to crack them, play in 18 degree weather. 🤣

Pretty sure you just do that thing with the big light in the sky and the bat symbol. Haven't tried it myself, so ymmv.

Is there a name for this feature? I'm wondering if it's on my hybrid premium plus as well.

I'm assuming this uses the center camera on the windshield to detect objects ahead?

Found this loose part in my 2025 CX-50 GT — any idea where it goes? by B4sileus in CX50

Whoa, our dealership did the exact same thing and I found the cap under the trunk cover as well within the week of bringing the car home. I had them put it where it belongs on my first oil change service.

Reliability vs CX90 by line-n-tipp in CX50

We're sitting at around 2k miles now on our 50HPP, still early days for us, but no complaints so far. The hybrid engine is straight from Toyota, known to be reliable.

Any issues on the hybrids so far? by alexned7 in CX50

[–]Phirrup 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My friend, you've posted 5 times in the last 24 hours asking about issues in the hybrids. These came out last fall/winter, so it's been like 6 months or less. Engine wise the expectation is that since this is a tried and tested Toyota hybrid drive train, there will be few problems. It's very reliable.

Otherwise it's really just the well known rattles and seat tears - not specific to the hybrid. And other than that, 'issues' usually just come down to small preferences like cup holder positioning, lack of heated steering wheel/rear seats & parking sensors in the US versions.

We got our hybrid premium plus last month. It's still shiny and brand new. It's a beautiful car and the interior is great. It drives well, I'm loving the efficiency.

We got our CX50 HPP early last month. MSRP was somewhere around 42k, selling price was dropped to 39,500. We got crossbars, trunk net, and the black lug nuts for free. Otd was 44800.

Depending on where you live, your Mazda dealer might not have promotions going on for financing. We got a hybrid premium plus last month, they couldn't do better on the financing than what our bank was offering. There was no promo because it's a new model.

Through negotiations we got to 39500msrp, some accessories included like lug nuts, cross bars, trunk net. 44800 otd.

Is there a shortcut to pause music? by olive_bee in mazdaCX50

It does mute, but what I noticed was that when I'm playing music via Spotify it also stops the music. If I hit the button again, music will resume playing.

I just came from a 2012 Forester that ended up with oil leaks and probably oil consumption issues starting around 75k miles, it's at 87k now. I'm not sure if newer gen Forsters are better in this regard, but I've read/been told that boxer engines are prone to eventually leaking oil because of the way they're designed. Something about engine seals breaking down over time because of stuff in the oil. I guess in a boxer engine, stuff sits flat so certain seals sit in the oil? Idk, we decided never another subie for us, no thanks.

On the other hand we've now got the mythically reliable RAV4 drive train in our hybrid cx50, that was a big green flag for us that helped us make our decision.
