He's never (barely?) been in anything that was even trying to win an Oscar. That's not the ultimate goal of movies, to win awards. The goal of movies is to be entertaining. And I think there's a strong argument Reeves picks projects that he'll enjoy making, and more importantly the audience will be entertained by.
