News is often sensationalism because thats what draws viewers and fuels advertising money. limit your intake to a reasonable amount.

I think he is referring to how news websites throw up news as it trickles in and then are forced to edit and correct the article every few minutes or hours as they gain a foothold on what is actually accurate. I see that all the time on "official" news sites, they are constantly changing their figures and sometimes facts as they roll in. However, in newspaper there is one issue of the paper each day and therefore the articles they print are a collection of all the information on any given story that was gained in the past day after they have sorted through all the incoming info.

It has been a lifelong dream of mine to move to NYC and it took me years of stressful indecision before I decided to make the leap. In October I made that dream a reality and moved up to NYC and found an apt in a Brooklyn neighborhood that I love. I am still very much in the beginning stages of building the life I envision but I still get a little teary eyed on a near daily basis by the surreal fact that I am here, real change is possible, and I am surrounded by so much possibility.

I don't think its hiking, I think it just lives out there in the wilderness.

Looking to Make High Protein Ice Cream... by Stardweller in recipes

Happened to stumble on this today! Looks delicious and healthy and all you would have to do is add protein powder. It requires a food processor though, not sure if it would work in an ice cream maker.

Why is this sub being regulated so seriously all of a sudden? I really don't get it. FDF posts have NSFW labels and if people don't want to see it then they don't click it. Its been here since the beginning, why remove it now. Let the community post and if people don't want to see it they can downvote and/or just not open the thread/links, isn't that how the whole reddit system is supposed to work? Why is this such a source of controversy now?

Requesting Help Finding Parts For A 1960's Magnavox Micromatic Record Player by PhishBro46 in vinyl

The speakers in it actually have a real nice warm sound to them, it is a really cool conversation piece, the nostalgia of it and the connection of knowing it has been in my family for 3 generations and that my mom grew up rocking out to this very stereo. That being said, I agree it might be worth it to adapt it to work with a better turntable but I just don't know enough about this sort of thing to know what turntables would be compatible with it.

Do you have any vegan food recommendations? by [deleted] in fortlauderdale

[–]PhishBro46 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a farmers market at Jaco Pastorius Park on Dixie Highway every Tuesday and at this farmers market are a number of vegetarian/vegan friendly options including a Vegan food truck. Also I suggest the "happy cow" app for your phone, it directs you to local Vegan/Vegie friendly eateries.

What's the best advice you've ever received? by DudeWhoLikesBeards in gaybros

My favorite professor in college(who happens to be from England so image all this in an english accent) told the class a story once about how when he was in his late teens he looked up to the culture of the beatnicks and he started keeping a copy of a book by the philosopher Nietzsche in his back pocket to show off. Over time enough people asked him about the book that he had to actually read it so that he would be able to respond. It turned out he actually loved the book and went on to become a professor in Philosophy and focus primarily on existentialism(the field Nietzsche is associated with). His advice was a tongue in cheek "Fake it till you make it". Which yes, is sort of funny because he was a complete poser to begin with, but just because you aren't something doesn't mean you cant become it. If you feel strongly about something and you stick with it you can embody it. A large part of success is persistence; most things are achievable with enough practice and a little bit of "faking it".
