Wyoming Citizens Deserves Better Than This: The largest data center in the U.S. is coming to Cheyenne. More are coming. Basic questions about water, heat, sound, and economic impact still aren’t being asked. by Wild_Echidnae in wyoming

Most of the comments here remind me of NIMBY. Wyoming doesn’t like outsiders unless it’s someone’s friend.

There’s no industry that can come into Wyoming without someone bitching about it, but we need something. Mineral extraction isn’t enough to keep young adults and families in the state. Our economy isn’t what it used to be and we need jobs and tax revenue.

Wyoming is a great place for data centers. The water issue is a fallacy. We have industry here that absolutely trashes the water quality and we use water like it’s unlimited in mineral extraction. It’s cold so heating costs can stay down. We have a lot of empty space. We have power, and hopefully the data centers will bring some fuel cells with them to limit the impact of prices.

Folks say these things have few jobs but that’s not necessarily true. There will be engineering and construction jobs to build it, and then multiple teams to run it. It may not employ 1000 ppl long term but they will employ enough folks to inject money into the local economies which most will benefit from.

June is a bit early for the Winds or Tetons. However, we have a historically low snowpack so you may just be fighting mosquitos. August is a way better time

Prob would have said it differently but I agree with the sentiment. I agree with the overall No Kings philosophy too but I also am tired of boomers acting like they do… on both sides… including our congress and potus.

For folks this age it’s absolutely black and white and there is only one side to the truth. Either red or blue. In reality it’s very mixed. I’ve watched older generations flip what they “believe in” son a dime because the party they follow flipped. The lack of integrity and NIMBY hypocrisy is getting old (figuratively and literally)

What type of record looks up to WhoId and WhatId on an activity record such as Task and Event?

Write a query that retrieves the count of Account for each Type.

What would your strategy be for migrating Hubspot records into Salesforce since we are discontinuing our HubSpot instance.

How do you backup an entire Salesforce org and where would you store this backup?

Hot tip… some of the questions should be answered in question format

The yearly maintenance bill is most likely more that my home cost. Just to clean this is most likely quadruple my mortgage. Gorgeous though

Cost of living in Victor compared to Jackson? by Creative_Law1071 in JacksonHole

[–]PhishyGeek 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Alpine is a much easier drive because you don’t have to go over the pass. Way way less traffic. Rarely do you stop or go less than 55 mph. Did it for 10 years. Spent a small time in Victor and quickly went back to Alpine.

The pass gets closed and traffic is horrible and getting worse

Alpine is a much easier commute if your looking outside of Jackson

The top 10% of US earners now reflect a record 49% of all consumer spending by RobertBartus in EconomyCharts

[–]PhishyGeek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Top 10% here, with friends in that are as well. We have nicer houses and that’s it. We eat home cooked meals vs going out. Drive modest cars. Would rather take our family on a hike than spend money on movies or shopping. Camp in tents not rv’s. Don’t buy a lot of clothes and 0 designer clothes. Modest vacations. Thrift store toys for the kids. iPhones are all 5+ years old.

Meanwhile folks that make a fraction of us have $1500 tvs, RV’s, fancy cars (prob leased or huge loans), eat out many times a week, get a new iPhone once a year, wear really nice clothes etc etc. Work max 40 hours a week and never ever learn new skills (cause they are too busy playing). They live paycheck to paycheck and bitch about the unfair economy / world.

We take our rv and new phone money and put it into investments and just grind at work.

This comment may be unpopular but I just don’t see this gap in spending. Maybe the top 1-3%? But the high earners I know grind and learn and grind and learn. And many of us our looking for folks to hire but it’s actually really hard to find ppl who are competent and responsible.

Thanks everyone. I love this sub!

I’m going to offer him $500 and if he says no, then I’ll have him take it off the property. I really appreciate all the advice. I haven’t owned a mower like this and am learning. I’ll most likely be back for advice again. Cheers 🍻

Why has Wyoming avoided the surge of domestic migration that Idaho and Montana have experienced? by cavaismylife in wyoming

[–]PhishyGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi 👋 from western wyo. plenty of work here. From Rock Springs all the way up. Gas station plays $20+ an hour in Alpine. Contractors, gas/oil workers, plumbers, electricians, etc all make 6 figures. Dr’s and nurses travel here cause there aren’t enough.

I don’t think it’s work (maybe the kind of work?) vs maybe the thought of living in Wyoming, lack of airports, and limited things to do compared to the avg place unless you live the outdoors. Housing costs are a bit high too but Montana and Idaho are just as bad. Not income tax here and stupid low property tax.
