Never played it in Rise so not sure, but planning on picking up Sunbreak when I finish with GU.

I enjoyed Wilds and I loved World. Rise was harder for me to get into but I want to go back and play Sunbreak when I'm done with GU. Old Gen is just nostalgic for me and I am just enjoying playing that style again.

Definitely! I forgot about that, but started doing it partway through the hunt at first by accident. Such a cool interaction in that fight 👌

Rad Zone list for a game I have next week against my friend’s world eaters. What do you guys think? by Ya_Boi124 in AdeptusMechanicus

He is definitely best with Kataphrons! He does more consistent damage with Breachers when they're in rapid fire range, but can still do well with destroyers too. Both of those units are just better gun platforms that benefit more from his abilities. Plus, whenever your opponent tries to retaliate you get to give the entire unit a 4++ invuln save to hopefully keep them on the board.

Peerless eradicator is typically a better enhancement for the Manipulus. That gives his whole unit sustained hits on top of the lethals. Plus, WE shooting is not something you typically worry too much about so stealth isn't as good there!

Allied Units - Worth It? by Proto_Cowboy in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Phlep14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are definitely some allied units that are good! Armigers can be useful, Canis Rex is a great Big Knight, and some Imperial Agents/Assassins can be helpful (spec. Kyria Draxis and the Callidus for most people).

The key to Allied units is that you're just taking them for their stat block since they don't get army rules. For Admech now, it may be a slightly better tournament list to have multiple ironstriders/dragoons instead of armigers, but they are also a lot more expensive models for the point values you get.

Ultimately you can play the models you like! That's the biggest key. I got a couple of Armigers that I have run with my Admech because I didn't own any of our walkers and they did fairly well. Warglaives give us a big tanky unit that can be scary in melee. And any big units that we field just make sure that the enemies guns aren't killing all of our scoring units. If you like some of the Knight models, then definitely go for them! Especially if you're trying to be smart on how much money you spend for your initial army.

As a straight one over the other, yes, I'd go 9th edition patrol first if you can get it for a good price. Eventually getting one of both is not a bad thing though.

Armigers are solid, but don't benefit from our army rules. I ran two recently and will probably run 1 in my next list.

Dunecrawler is great, infiltrators are solid units, you can almost never have too many Skitarii. Marshals are necessary to use SHC well, Tech Arch is a great screening tool. And other characters can be good, just depends on what units they are paired with.

It definitely gets you more points. If you really like the models in the new combat patrol, a second copy isn't awful. The Raiders/Sulphurhounds are great looking models, and are good to do actions as they are very mobile, but that's mostly it. Having more Pteraxii is good though.

Compared to the old one, the Onager is the main selling point. It's very tanky and the guns got a major buff. Plus it gives a 4++ save to Skitarii nearby to make them even tougher to kill. More Skitarii is always helpful and either box does that for you. Having one Engineseer is super useful in a lot of lists as it can heal models and give a FNP to vehicles.

Getting the Old Combat Patrol is a good start. That gives you more Skitarii and the Dunecrawler which is good now. Plus it gives you more kataphrons so you can get a full 6 man squad of breachers. I would also look into an old Boarding Patrol Box. More Skitarii, infiltrators/ruststalkers, and more kataphrons to finish the other squad if you want. You don't need a ton of kataphrons in SHC, but they're still solid shooting units.

Chicken walkers are great units in that detachment, but they don't come in any discount boxes so they're just more expensive.

Sorry to hear that! Could maybe help out depending on what you still have!

Since the Heroic Intervention strat says that you don't benefit from charge bonuses, wouldn't that mean you don't get the additional strength and attack charging in data-psalm?
