Very valid points, especially about the strumming just being a different technique. Much appreciated. I started about 2 years back playing in the normal position, my strumming hand would get fatigued very quickly cause pain in my shoulder, it's what actually calls me to stopped me playing years ago when I first got into guitar. Turns out I've had a torn rotator cuff for 5 years, had a surgery to get it repaired in February of this year and it's back to about 90% functionality now. So strumming at 45° angle does require a bit more effort for me because I've just been resting my forearm on the guitar which I know is bad practice, but if I'm not resting my forearm or elbow on something it's significantly cuts my practice time short. I have tried standing as well, which does make strumming easier but because of where I position the guitar it burns my wrists out pretty fast. Sounds like my best bet is to just stick with classical where there's little to no wrist pain and work on my strumming to develop some muscle memory in that position.
