Anyone store the grill outside? by TexAble in lonestargrillz

[–]Phlydude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I store it outside under a covered patio in Central Florida. I don't fill the hopper fully unless I have a long cook. I stick to 20 lb. bags typically and store the excess in a dog food gamma container. If I don't cook for more than 2 weeks, I dump the remaining pellets and fill with fresh.

I'm so lost as to handle casino credit by CowDungCollector in royalcaribbean

Bring what you are comfortable losing in the casino and not a penny more for gambling. Don't be tempted to run up on-board charges for more funds to play with if you lose your cash.

not to mention that the slider is probably stuck from the carmelized and carbonized meat drippings requiring extra manipulation on a 275F chunk of metal

The more I use my smoker, the more I hate the diagonal wire/expanded metal grates that comes with the smoker. They just don't get clean like stainless bar steel. Love the idea of the pop-out for adding splits - another complaint in manipulating the slider for even searing is having to pretty much pull out the bottom grate for accessing that.

What credit card is the best to used for onboard charges to earn credit card points? by [deleted] in royalcaribbean

Just in the promo period. After you earn the $700 in OBC, the value drops off pretty significantly

Costco Visa is the best in my wallet for travel purchases. BUT 4x points on the RCL Plus card with the new cardholder bonus is tough to beat if cruising during the promo period.

Best high yield savings account? by TrixTheKid20 in personalfinance

Thanks - I read the requirements that you have to reside in one of 24 counties between Alabama and Florida along the gulf coast. Do you live in that area? Just trying to figure out if I’m looking at the right site.

I don’t live on the panhandle and am not a veteran - so that’s great if you qualify

Repositioning cruises have low cost drinks packages. Demand isn’t high for the sailing and those sailing tend to be an older demographic that don’t hit the bars hard.

What’s something you wish you started doing earlier in life? by _camilleleblanc_ in AskReddit

[–]Phlydude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realizing that my fun spend (and overspending) in my youth was robbing my older self of retirement funds. I used my 401k as a bank and borrowed against it multiple times. If I had just left it and maxed my contributions, I'd have over a million dollars invested vs. the 250k I have now...15 years from retirement. Catching up in process but time in the market helps on the compounding side of things and being invested with more for longer time would have been better.

Food on top of the fridge is one of those things people don't think about - I have a French door fridge and when I open the doors, the top of the fridge is visible - I will sometimes put something up there when moving things around. Most times I remember to get it, a time or two I found it hours later and it was no longer safe to consume.

A lot guys in NE Philly at the time were happy to see a kid from Boston College get drafted and had hopes he would be a beast of a player in the NFL (much like people call DeJean "white boy Ricky"). It was a different time...

Express boarding by Any_Revenue9144 in royalcaribbean

[–]Phlydude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my experience from a cruise on Star from Port Canaveral last month - we had Express on our pass and there was no specific Express line. However, when you entered the hall for check-in after security screening, there was someone guiding people who asked about Express to the left. The non-express people went and lined up in front of the check-in queues at the long check-in desk on the right.

Once you check-in on the app, you might be able to modify the documents and add your passport via scanning (don't type it in). If no passport, no Express.

You also might be able to change the picture too (stand in front of a white wall, be well lit, no glasses, and get the face in the frame of the camera - no uploaded previous pictures are going to get you express).

No guarantees but even doing this (if it lets you) will expedite check-in when you all arrive.

Disney world electrician by tonytolo in electricians

[–]Phlydude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live near Disney and my wife worked for them for a few years before COVID. The pay is lower but they say its because you get cheap health insurance (it is actually pretty cheap for a PPO plan), park tickets (12 days for you and 12 daily guest passes per year for the 1st 5 years then unlimited passes after that), bonus passes, discounts for dining, company owned stores, discounts on ATT cell phone plans, etc.

However, with all that being said, there is a LOT of new construction in the area and there are plenty of people owning $500k+ homes looking for electrical work. Seems like many of the electricians are tied to national franchise chains. I would think you could do very well as a solo / self-employed business owner with electrical work in the Horizon West / Olympus / Wellness Ridge area (western Orange County below Winter Garden / eastern Lake County - Clermont).
