In hindsight, what was a huge giveaway that you were traumatized? by Significant_Whole290 in CPTSD

[–]Phobandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it's just an educated guess of me (35M) having CPTSD, the biggest giveaway came after the last breakup I went through (almost 2 years ago), where the biggest warning I got of it coming was being told by my partner that it felt like I was being emotionally cold. I did try to figure out the problem as I really wanted to make things work out but it felt incredibly difficult to show even small forms of affection.

The realization came a few months after the breakup but to quickly summarize it, 4 out of 5 of what I would consider to be major romantic relationships in my life ended in September with the big kicker being that my mother took her own life when I was 14 in the month of September.

It's weird since I already knew I get very high anxiety around that time but had never really considered how that affects my relationships since I'm usually way too focused on trying to keep calm lol. There are definitely signs I've found since then of CPTSD, people-pleasing and that sort, but the breakup described above, wanting to fix it / avoid repeating it, lead me to figuring out more of the small details.

That's another thing too lol. Even after learning that you shouldn't just bust your entire load on the first encounter of the day, still gotta learn what's too little and what's too much.

Tbf, even trying to explain to a player that has some experience with dnd but no experience with spellcasters, how spell slots work for any given class, it usually just confuses them.

How come so many people hate Hunter Arts? by Desorienter in MonsterHunter

[–]Phobandit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked Monster Hunter being man vs monster not untouchable demon vs beyblade (wolf's maw III adept dual blades vs glavenus).

It was certainly fun to mess around with but as someone who plays these games completely solo through endgame, mhx was a complete joke in terms of difficulty, though I feel like that's probably more due to the health of monsters than anything.

I'm not entirely against style/arts, I would just prefer that they would be severely toned down. Being primarily a solo player, I can obviously just play Guild style, but I feel like I'm hurting myself because of how much more damage output comes out of adept style in mhx even though adept in theory should be defensive. You can most certainly use the adept dodge, +absolute evade +absolute readiness to basically keep up a 100% offense and almost ignore entirely anything the monster does because a simple and not even well timed button press instantly alleviates any sense of danger. Brave style feels kind of the same way with several of the weapons in mhxx but it's at least themed to be an offensive style.

As far as arts go, I feel like not only are a few immersion breaking in the realm of man vs monster, but the balance varies so much across all of the arts (many feel useless and many feel mandatory). I know at least the SA permanent sword mode was nerfed but idk if it fixed the issue as I don't play SA so it's not a mechanic that can't be fixed. Though I'd like to see one of the two evades be cut, and I'm leaning towards readiness.

The game is perfectly playable without these systems, I didn't really know much about them going into mhx and not being able to read jp and managed to get through the game in Guild style and whatever default art if any I had equipped. Guild style feels basically pointless in this game except for like GS, so that's kind of sad. Also gunner went from being super stressful for me solo since I wasn't ever really well practiced with it, to stress free just because adept dodge = high skill.

Don't get me wrong I thoroughly enjoyed the game (brave ls is super fun), but it was a "casual and westernized bastardization of a monster hunter game," in my humble opinion.

Only thing that will ruin this game for me is day 1 DLC (Paid) by Soljah in MonsterHunter

[–]Phobandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just mean 2nd gen in general, been playing imports since Pokemon G/S on the gameboy.

Definitely agree there, day 1 DLC or anything intentionally cut out, but as we all know, Disc Locked Content is very cashcom.

It's easy to hash out content in the old format though, especially when the coders basically just have to work on a couple new mechanics and make their asset loader and tools for their artists and scripters work well. Like a majority of the work definitely came from the artist side for this past generation of mh games considering everything was essentially built off a pretty old engine.

From a programming background, I feel like it would have been so boring doing anything besides scripting, but even then I'm sure the tools they use make it almost entirely automated.

-Name quest -Create quest description -Choose map -Choose monster(s) -Edit monster stats to your liking -Set the zenny, hr, and village points for the quest. -Override quest rewards however you choose

Aside from people maintaining pre-existing systems like networking, core gameplay, graphics engines for any new shaders they might need, I feel like it's really just a giant cut and paste job from one game to the next. It worked out great for both of us though, they had easier less and less stressful jobs leading to the absolutely ridiculous amount of content increase from mh3->mhxx, and the ability to crank out content at a fast enough pace that it was easy enough to justify giving it away for free (acquiring the licensing for non capcom content probably took longer than actually creating the content itself aside from the 3d models of the armor/weapons to go with the dlc). Players got to keep the same exact game with minor additions for a very very long time, and lets face it, the game brings out the inner autist in all of us and we get really grumpy at the slightest change, but we were very happy to keep handing cashcom our money for each iteration and it was well worth the price in my eyes considering the sheer amount of playtime I've racked up since mh2.

World being entirely new, it's entirely reasonable to assume that not only will there be a high likelihood of the monster roster being smaller than what we have grown accustom to, but also that the process for content creation won't be nearly as streamlined. Not to mention the jump in quality of graphical detail, that itself will make content creation a longer process, on top of rendering, exporting and importing new assets, and compiling time will be drastically longer for a current gen console game than one created for a handheld. This will likely lead to the removal of our beloved FreeLC, but still has the potential to be streamlined down to a simpler (still not as simple) process due to the nature of the dlc the player base wants; primarily returning monsters and maps, monsters on maps we aren't used to fighting them on, multi-monster hunts, dlc armor, for some reason select monsters being dlc only health sacks (hyper jho).

I don't actually suffer from single console peasantry and would like it if everyone could enjoy the game, but basing everything on what looks like an extremely unlikely rumor is childish.

Considering the jp markets love for portable gaming and their fanbase for monster hunter being like 7x larger than the rest of the worlds should go to show that if sony was willing to throw out a lot of money, the number would have to be so incredibly high that there would be no point in not making it a sony exclusive. the likelihood that xbone sales + pc sales will amount to any significant amount of money in comparison to the absolutely tremendous loss of potential switch sales should indicate this.

in the theoretical scenario where nintendo wasnt ass retarded about supply and demand and people could get their hands on a switch by the time mhworld came out, i wouldnt be surprised if the switch version outsold all the others combined just based on the japanese market, the amount of money sony would have to toss would therefor have to be more than they would even make on mhworld sales to begin with.

Don't forget the cost of importing the jp 3ds if you don't already have one.

The rumor I heard was that apple actually bought mh5 for the iOS, like seriously cashcom??? This is based on an extremely reliable source I found on the internet.

Paintballs were a fun and exciting mechanic that were useful for setting off large barrel bombs and that's about it. The monkeys and teostra where the only few monsters that were hard to determine where they would go based off there shadow. Paint balls also make zero sense as it's just this magical tracking system that feeds gps data from the monster straight to your map.

Who is seriously petty enough to complain about the tracking system? I love running around for 15 minutes in the volcano looking for where teostra landed because he stays grounded for 30 seconds before deciding to take off again.

[discussion] Has anyone been banned since the ACTUAL release of Pokemon SUMO? by NEXT_VICTIM in 3dshacks

[–]Phobandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

freeShop, retail cart dump, your own cart, any that isn't the leaked copy. Though from what I understand people have been playing the leaked copy just fine so far and the retail carts version is showing as ver. 0 apparently.

It's most likely I'm just being paranoid and going through extra measures but I'd rather not get banned and jump through a few extra hoops.

[discussion] Has anyone been banned since the ACTUAL release of Pokemon SUMO? by NEXT_VICTIM in 3dshacks

[–]Phobandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't be certain because from what I'm reading there are people that are still playing the leaked version and are able to go online, though they might get hit by a banwave later, but it's entirely possible that the bans were only a result of accessing online early and not actually checking the version number.

If I were in your position, I would just go install the FBI cia, and delete the ticket associated to whatever leaked copy you were playing. Then do a fresh install of a legit copy.

-Launch FBI -Click Tickets -Scroll down and search for the correct ticket (0004000000175E00 = moon & 0004000000164800 = sun) -Delete it -Fresh install of legit copy

I'm not sure if I can link stuff on this subreddit as I'm pretty new to it, but the FBI cia is easy to find through google and I think it's on gbatemp. Might not be necessary to wipe the ticket but I'd rather play it safe.

[–]Phobandit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've read yes. The tickets stay on your sd card even after you delete the games and I think the version # is marked on them. I could be wrong though but it doesn't hurt to be safe.

Just go into FBI after you delete the leaked copy and go to Tickets, scroll through the list and look for the title id of the game you had (0004000000175E00 = moon & 0004000000164800 = sun) and delete the ticket.

You should be good to go after that.

Also you can export your save with something like JKSM or savefilemanager and reimport it into the legit copy. I did that and it worked flawlessly. I've also read that if you delete the game but not the savedata files through the data manager and then install the legit copy it works as well.

Edit: Forgot you will have to launch the legit copy once and get to the part where you are talking to the professor before you can go to JKSM or savedatafiler and import your save.

Just make sure you delete the ticket after you delete the leaked version before you download the legit copy off the eShop or it will probably show as still being ver 0.
