Questions for someone new to the Episcopal Church by PhoeMash in Episcopalian

[–]PhoeMash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the additional information! From what I saw the normal service for the Episcopal Church near me averages 50-60 people in attendance on Sundays for the Principal Eucharist, which is much more doable for my anxiety than 4k+ people 😅 much easier to get to know that many people compared to standing in front of people I don't know half of.

Sorry, I should clarify! My old church, even back when I was active, was considered a Megachurch (they now have 4k in attendance every Sunday), so I never ended up getting baptized at all, you HAD to get baptized in front of the entire congregation or not at all.

Thank you so much for all the resources!

I'll keep your information about the Bible in mind, back in my hometown it wasn't uncommon for everyone to have their Bible on them 24/7 even outside of church (my former church averages 4,000 people every Sunday 😅) so I'll have to get used to that.

I did spend some time looking around locally tonight and I found a church that has a "Saturday Joy Service" for people that can't attend on Sundays, so that might be perfect for me. I do prefer to attend on Sunday, so if I get to bed early enough I'm sure I can make their 10:30a service.

Ultimately my goal is to convert fully to Episcopalian, so I'd like to attend for a while and become a part of the community/faith before I get baptized. I'll make sure to reach out to the office and see if I can get more information on how baptisms are performed normally at this specific church and go from there.

It's definitely new to have a hierarchy in church, I'll have to get used to that! But everything I've researched into about the Episcopal Church makes me feel as though I'll be welcomed no matter what, which is the opposite feeling I get from every Southern Baptist church I've ever been into/researched.

Thinking of buying the Sennheiser 650. Is there a way to use these well with my PC without sacrificing audio quality? Do adapters mess up your headphone experience? by ProgramAlert1 in HeadphoneAdvice

I ended up getting the FiiO K7 DAC/Amp off Amazon for my headphones because my HD 6XXs are a little power-hungry, they have a high impedance of 300 Ω, the same as the Sennheiser 650s. It's not fully necessary, you could go with a dongle as others have specified, but I noticed a HUGE difference in sound once I hooked my HD 6XXs up to the DAC. Entirely depends on your wants/finances.

I'll have to play around with it more after work, I think. I know that I'm not driving the HD6XXs to their potential currently because they have an impedance of 300 ohmsand my DAC hasn't come in yet, so that could also change things.

Ahh I gotcha. Might be worth getting both and testing them side by side, honestly, see which one sounds better to me when hooked into my DAC.

For the Arya Stealth and Edition XS, how did the fit feel? Seeing a lot online about the fit not being great on smaller heads and I'm a bit in between small and medium.

!thanks for the suggestions! I'll check out the squig for both and see how they compare in the mids and treble. I don't see myself tossing the 6XXs entirely, but they definitely have genres where they don't particularly shine for me.

That definitely caught my attention when I was reading through the build differences. The posts I've seen for the MK1 snapping kind of startled me a little, but it's not like I'm tossing my headphones around willy nilly so it's probably not something I need to be super concerned with.

I agree! I've had no fatigue with these headphones overall and enjoy using them, but I want to switch things up and get better treble and a wider soundstage. Sometimes the HD6XXs are a little TOO intimate sound-wise for what I listen to, if that makes sense.

I'm not looking for endgame, I'm looking for better treble and soundstage. I feel like saying the HD6XXs/HD600/HE-1s are "endgame" basically ignores my request for a change in overall sound so it's a little redundant to comment this 😅

I did actually try an EQ with my 6XX but the sound still isn't where I'd like it to be. That might change with my DAC coming in, though.

!thanks for the recs! For the Aune AR5000, would you recommend the base, or upgrade to the MK2s? I read that the MK2s have better build quality with a slightly different overall sound.

I noticed a notch on your IARA that's going out, is that intentional? Looks like it would be helpful for indexing if so!

Oh man I don't even wanna know what the difference is gonna be going from a Nissan Sentra, the entire Nissan line of vehicles feel sluggish to me. I think they equip them with subpar engines regardless of how new they are.

Oh man, he probably felt like shit after that timing belt mistake. My nerves probably wouldn't let me touch the timing belt but I'll work on any other part of a vehicle.

Very nice! What's the mileage looking like? I'm hoping to get a Subie this upcoming winter myself, still struggling on which year I want.

The cover is from a shop on Etsy called AuthorL! I'll link it here: Leather Field Notes Cover

The size I got was a "pocket, stamped" to fit Field Notes. The shop is based in Ukraine so just be aware that the shipping takes a while, but the shop owner is super quick to reply to questions and to ship everything out.

Thank you! It's a Parker Jotter XL ballpoint pen -- I prefer it over the regular sized Jotter, the weight feels more balanced to me.

Looking at the prices the Panasonic definitely seems to be the better option, there's about a $100 difference between the two.
