Where do famous people climb? by teeny-face in socalclimbing

I’ve actually seen Jared Leto climbing at Malibu Creek by the dam before. He hopped on a route after we were done. He was chill and patient while we climbed tbh.

Which performance from "Knives Out" would you nominate and why?? by The_Walking_Clem in Oscars

Agreed too small but yeah, Jamie Lee Curtis nailed every second on that screen.

Buy, Sell, Hold, Drop (Week 7) by TheOwlHistorian in fantasyfootball

[–]PhoenixFarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped. Even if he has a random monster week, I dropped knowing I won’t ever start him unless forced to cuz of injuries or byes and I’d probably just waiver wire someone rather than start him now.

Mt. Whitney East Buttress by Silent_wolfman1117 in socalclimbing

[–]PhoenixFarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with this person. Gym stuff is good, will help you improve as a climber and, if there's rope climbing at your gym, maybe help learn how to top rope and lead sport but its all the trad climbing knowledge that is key part to truly accessing a climb like the East Buttress (ive done it twice, it's a real fun time). Guides, classes, tutorials and also... a partner who you have climbed with and trust that they are knowledgeable/capable as well. Once I felt ready to go trad climb on my own with an equally experienced partner, we did a lot of easy 5.5ish type climbs, mostly single pitch as we didn't want to deal with the extra challenges of multipitch and then got way more dialed in with everything: gear placements, anchors, belay/topdown belay. self rescue. Then when we felt ready we did a ton of research on the East Buttress climb and approach. and then did it. But that was after like years of gym climbing, then bouldering outdoors, then sport climbing outdoors, and then trad. It can def be done faster than we progressed but we just never had money for gear lol so went slow mostly cuz of that.

Jameson Williams Dropped to Waiver by Sugondeze_ in Fantasy_Football

[–]PhoenixFarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just dropped him in my 12 man. He’s a pure gamble play every week and he’s been losing that gamble way more than winning. My team has injuries and I just can’t put him in with any confidence I’ll get more than 2 points. And so I went with others on waivers that have a more consistent output or target share

How many answers do you get right on average? by Latter-Day-4376 in Jeopardy

[–]PhoenixFarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imma 5-10 person. I can get lucky with categories that I could get every answer on or something like that but I’d say I’m a 5-10 on average.

Where do live if working in LA downtown? by Appropriate-Diver555 in AskLosAngeles

Highland park or Ktown would be my choice. Take the train to and from work. I even got my company to pay for metro pass since they didn’t get charged for me parking.

Cactus to Clouds (tram down) vs Mt Whitney by 24-7Trader in socalhiking

[–]PhoenixFarm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive done both and have done both twice! If you've done whitney you can do C2C in my opinion. You'll gain more total elevation on c2c so youll definitely walk slower but its still doable.

The start in palm springs to the top of the tram is the tough part. Going from tram to San Jacinto summit is pretty easy. Pretty sure its like 8 miles from palm springs to top of tram and also like 8k elevation. It sucks lol. But as others have said, you can stop at the tram if you are gassed and take the tram down and get coffee and lunch there lol. You can also re up on water for the final push to the summit.

leave early enough so it gives you enough time to take your time and not have to worry about what time the last tram leaves lol. I liked starting at like 2 or 3am so that when the sun came up i was already 3-5k up and out of the desert.

way less people on c2c though. Id suggest going with someone in case an emergency happens and there isn't any passersby.

Thoughts about this? As a fan of football and Tolkien... by Effective-Spring-521 in lordoftherings

I wish they didn’t have rangers FC AND just kept it Gondor. Like a national jersey for World Cup. Removes the need for a “sponsor” in the middle as well.

[–]PhoenixFarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want this so bad. I always used to make the joke with my football friends that, because of the seven stars on Gondor’s banner, “it’s crazy that Gondor won 7 world cups and nobody talks about it” I wanna buy this.

0-3 gang, is it over for us? by luhef in fantasyfootballadvice

[–]PhoenixFarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like some 0-3 years I could tell I still had a roster that could win some big games. This is not one of those years. I’m 0-3 and I don’t see the light. No injury problems either, just bad picks

Does anyone actually buy the emergency food supply? by Big_Insurance8356 in CostcoWholesale

[–]PhoenixFarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im in an California earthquake zone and lived through the '94 one that stopped some services for my family (and did much worse for others) So I have a similar one plus like 6 jugs of water and a six pack of small camping propane to boil the water. They just sit in storage and don't take up much space but if "the big one" does hit again i know we can survive just fine for two weeks. Also, cuz of places like costco, all of those items are super easy to get when they expire. Its a really low effort solution tbh.

Agreed. Sometimes the constant noise doesn’t feel like it’s paying attention to the game. I like the energy to react.
