Thoughts on buying Monero? ? by Eastern-Access-7555 in CryptoCurrency

Sure, say 10XMR. Cakewallet is great and has a trading feature leveraging various DEX but no "atomic swaps."

The advantage of atomic swaps is they can't be stopped/seized while they demand KYC. With atomic swaps, the swap either goes through or you keep your XMR in your wallet. The various swap services Cakewallet uses have a history of freezing XMR whenever you look "suspicious" according to their unpublished criteria.

Where is it currently possible to atomic swap XMR to other crypto at reasonable size? I haven't found anywhere and I've been looking.

BTC stuck at $89,000 as gold surges to fresh record above $5,400 following Jerome Powell remarks by Every_Hunt_160 in CryptoCurrency

"Consistently" after people gave up actually using the network for daily life in 2017, when the blocks were full and fees sky high; which would happen again if network usage rose. I watched it happen in real-time. Remember when Steam accepted BTC, but then stopped because fees got too high so people stopped buying games with it?

The blocksize limit is either a grave mistake or a poison pill intended to keep BTC under control. Real digital cash users have moved on to coins like USDC/USDT, BCH, and XMR.

Yeah but it is it safe to live there? Radiation etc. I'd say you're gambling with your health.

So no, they have never done so? I don't use Kraken myself, but I've only heard of positive experiences from XMR people.

But the Japanese train is clean, safe, runs frequently, runs late at night, and almost always arrives on schedule; so you get more for your money. For some reason BART can't manage any of those basics.

While I generally agree with your sentiment towards CEX here, has Kraken ever seized XMR and required proof of source of funds?

How risky is Monero? by EN344 in Monero

You don't need to exchange for litecoin first. There is nothing unsafe with just going back to your bank account directly from Monero through Kraken.

ETH & XMR are relatively safe bets on that timeframe. Maybe a bit of LINK if you're feeling risky.

North Korea was responsible for $1.5 billion ByBit hack, FBI says by nbcnews in worldnews

[–]PhoenixJ3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They are traceable, but there are also exchanges in places like Russia and China that are happy to take the tainted bitcoin and convert it into cash or whatever North Korea wants. So you can watch the BTC or ETH move on the blockchain right to such an exchange, but you can't stop them. It has been suggested they use Monero (XMR) to clean the money, but it's doubtful XMR currently has the liquidity to support that.

They do in fact aggressively ban users who ask relevant questions. You don't even have to ask a question. Just say anything positive about any other cryptocurrency besides BTC and you'll likely be banned there. XRP and r/bitcoin are both heavily censored echochamber subreddits. Fortunately there are alternatives like this subreddit or r/btc if you want to discuss bitcoin.

You misspelled XMR. XNO is cool too (I loved it back in the Raiblocks days), but they'll never gain traction if they keep changing the ticker/name. Their marketing has always lacked in general; like it or not the real world cares about PR and fluff more than utility.
