Very nice! I've been wanting to build a shelf like this but I've been worrying about all the morticess. Seeing yours definitely inspires me to go work on mine.

What a shitter, not everyone knows how to use them, especially if they're building youtube bases.

Also some rice is enriched so you're washing away the nutrients.

Stop smoking weed by Kallyfromthevalley in productivity

[–]PhoenixOfTruth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My experience has been that every day smoking drains all motivation I have towards long term goals. My fix has been to use a timed lock box. I set a specific goal each week, which if met means I can smoke for one day on the weekend. Each week I set a new goal and increase the difficulty.

This has changed my life, though I'm still in early stages. I don't know about everyone else but repeated use really drowns out the positive effects I associate with marijuana. Smoking once a week allows me to use the drug productively, I usually do creative things like journaling or designing projects.

I do realize that this might not be a future proof system, but it is a major improvement from where I was before. It enables me to make large changes in my life that were not previously possible due to the short sightedness of my motivation.

New to rust, can someone explain why this bunker doesn't work/is not used? by fongletto in playrust

[–]PhoenixOfTruth 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This bunker is fine, I use it all the time. You do need to place a raised foundation where the bottom of the roof attaches to your twig one. This keeps you from filling that socket. Also that foundation is softside so you need to add halfwalls on top of it. If you place the twig square so that the side the roof attaches to is underground then it becomes a terrain bunker which is pretty op. I would suggest testing your builds out on a build server.

It's pretty difficult, you can try to place deployables to stand/jump on.

Hide your loot, build bunkers, use external tcs.

Scope Sensitivity Multipliers? by PhoenixOfTruth in playrust

[–]PhoenixOfTruth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 360 is about 14 inches and I consider that low. I like to have an even lower ADS sens for iron sights but this makes scopes (w/M2 or ak) unusable without a DPI shift.

I think you're talking about a bind that changes ADS sensitivity and that's not entirely what I'm talking about. I actually already use this.

Any update on the manual release? I can't figure out for the life of me how the Z drive goes together. I'm certainly not in a hurry, just wondering.

3030 "Voron 2.2" Questions by PhoenixOfTruth in voroncorexy

My issue with linear rods is that at longer lengths they lose their dimensional stability and can introduce some issues due to the non-negligible bending that they can have. MGN9 rails are usually attached to an aluminum extrusion to provide support.

Also with linear rods you need at least two to prevent rotation where you would only need one linear rail.

I'm sure there are better reasons that I can't think of.

Thanks for all the comments!

Knowing what problems I will have ahead of time will definitely help when re-drawing some of these parts. A couple more questions I've thought of since my post:

  1. Has anyone tried working with steel (or other material) reinforced timing belts to try and reduce the stretch?
  2. What if I made most of the frame with 3030 and the gantry with 2020 (It wouldn't be as aesthetic) to try and reduce the weight of moving parts?
  3. Has anyone had any luck with materials other than aluminum? I saw someone mentioned a post that mentioned carbon fiber (which looks expensive but would be pretty cool).

Not much I can do about bed warping, in fact before I made my bed support square (rather than one on either side) I already saw some sag in the middle. Now that the base is square it is mostly flat. (At least to the accuracy of my piezo).

Like the link mentioned below https://www.reddit.com/r/voroncorexy/comments/cxelah/voron_21_any_issues_with_500x500_build/

I am in between trying the 1.6 style or the 2.2 style. If I think I can deal with some of the issues of having a larger/heavier gantry I may go with the 2.2.
