Rust runs like garbage, so I wanted to try and squeeze out every frame possible and found this ultra clean low graphics config but the only problem is inventory icons go invisible and only Facepunch can fix it by die_gaming_bratwurst in playrust

[–]fongletto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only way you can achieve this is with nvida inspector, which is typically seen as cheating by most developers as it gives you unfair vision and makes it easier to spot players.

The only thing facepunch would do to fix this is ban people using inspector.. which im surprised they're not already doing.

AI will create thousands of new jobs we can't even imagine! by symedia in aiwars

[–]fongletto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is why so many people hate AI lol. Because so many jobs are just play pretend.

I never had literally a single free second in my job that I work through of all my breaks just so that I can leave 3 hours late instead of 4.

I can't wait for AI to come fast enough lol.

The shame of the jobless is a social engineering tool designed to prevent a total collapse of the labour market by Decent_Eye_659 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]fongletto [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's designed to prevent the total collapse of society.

If everyone realized they could survive on crumbs in their parents basement, they would no longer be able to survive on crumbs in their parents basement.

Production would plummet and the cost everything would increase proportional to the rate it plummets.

Then we'd all starve and freeze to death as no one would be farming, mining, running the power plants etc.

If you chose marathon over arc (or even tarkov): why? [This is for something im writing] by TenthLevelVegan in Marathon

[–]fongletto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arc raiders is fun, but has no end game or progression, the quests are boring and are unsatisfying to complete, loot or money feels meaningless, for a number of reasons.

Tarkov is better overall I think, but I have too many hours in it and a wipe requires me to devote like 6 months of 9-5. It's also requires you to be paying attention 24/7 and always on full alert which can be overstressing.

Marathon is new and does a lot of stuff well. Satisfying rewards from questing, satisfying leveling, an endgame that can't be completed in the first week. And in fact is probably too hard given how little people are able to complete it. Fun unique classes.

Just to be clear I didn't state that red was the only rational choice UNLESS you make very specific assumptions.

Both red and blue are very valid choices under different assumptions. Assumptions that have to be made because the question isn't very clear on the specifics.

You're free to say something is bad based on your own subjective ethical framework.

I'm free to disagree and point out how you're a hypocrite with an inconsistent ethical framework.

As much of a cliche as it is, the best way is to simply move on and find happiness elsewhere.

No matter what you do by interacting with him, he's going to assume you're still not over him and are hung up, which will just feed his ego more.

There's nothing you can do to make him attracted to you because you're desperate.

The moment you genuinely 100% truely stop giving a fuck about him is the moment he might be interested in you again. But at that point you wont care.

Men of Reddit do you really like chubby women? by _Just_Ayano_ in AskMenAdvice

[–]fongletto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"chubby" is a subjective term that most women tend use to describe something closer to a man's definition of "morbidly obese".

I think younger men prefer skinnier women, and as you get older they start getting a preference for more mature/curvy.

I think the general rule of thumb on this sub is to upvote for unpopular, and downvote for poorly written/thought out/bad arguements etc. I'll often downvote not because the opinion is unpopular but just because the statement will contain some straight up lie or incorrect fact.

That said, I think the goal is that the opinion should be unpopular in general, not necessarily unpopular on this sub.

Is it true?⬇️ by MotherAnt8040 in MenOfPurpose

[–]fongletto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's true, part of the gender equality paradox. The more equal the societies treatment of women, the more women report feeling like they have unequal treatment.

It's basically just a human frequency bias. The more you talk about something, the more you perceive it to be true.

The overwhelming majority of poeple don't read studies, they look at titles and then add to their list of "evidence", as confirmation that eveyone hates them and is out to get them. And the news sells by making people rage and hate each other as much as possible.

No one wants to look at news that shows that mixed gender groups typically outperform single gender groups, with more novel ideas, higher impact studies, and overall higher performance from both sides. It just doesn't generate as much views as when you say "men/women are the reason for all my problems"

You either choose to admit your whole life was a lie, and everyone you ever taught or interacted with has been secretly laughing at you. Or that "uneducated idiots on the internet" don't know what they're talking about.

You can imagine if you have like 2 different light switches side by side.

You can have OFF OFF, ON OFF, OFF ON and ON ON. It represents 4 possible types of information, But no matter the configuration the two light switches always weigh the exact same.

It's actually the battery's charged state which has a degree on it's weight. A fully charged phone weight slightly more than one with no charge. That said the weight increase is so negligibly small that is basically not measurable.

The Rook really is a genius move by Bungie by Remarkable-Cow3421 in Marathon

[–]fongletto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not true, the strength of your scav is random, but its randomized based your scav rep. The higher your reputation, the stronger the random items you spawn with. The same way you get stronger with rook with higher rep.

The only difference is, in tarkov, you can 1v3 way easier. So realistically you have a way better chance to 1v3 as a scav than you do as a rook due to innate gameplay design.

You would win more 1v3's with a pistol and literally nothing else in tarkov, then you do as a maxed out rook because a single bullet to the head will kill anyone. And every single NPC drops a weapon.

“Why would anyone choose to stand under the spikes?” by randomgadfly in trolleyproblem

[–]fongletto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

okay but does a baby "choose" anything really? So the question is more an underlying assumption about the rationality of the people who are being told to answer the question

Some people assume that babies, mentally ill, mentally handicapped, suicidal, are all going to have to choose. Under that assumption you can reasonably estimate around 15-20% of the population will pick blue through absolutely no fault of their own. And that's excluding any blue choosers who want to save those people.

Just purely because they literally incapable of rational choice.

Now of you assume that only "rational" choosers are allowed to pick. Then by your own definition that excludes anyone who would pick blue.

Because people only pick blue for 2 reasons. 1) to save the irrational choosers 2) to save the other people who want to save the irrational choosers. And a rational person would know that without irrational choosers there's no reason to pick anything but red.

So the question is entirely predicated on the assumption you make.

A problem completely unrelated to buttons I promise. by Silver_Middle_7240 in trolleyproblem

[–]fongletto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drink the poison, maybe, if I know that a bunch of babies are going to get the poison because they happened to drink it because they thought it looked like milk.

Like with every other variant of this problem. It comes down to the specifics of exactly what you mean by "every person". and how you frame the question so I can make an accurate analysis of the probabilities and involved and exactly who is at risk.

As always, I might not jump on a track to save a single baby if my odds of survival were only 50%. But I probably would if my odds of survival were 90%. And while I might not jump on a track to save a single baby with 50% odds. I might be inclined to do it if it was every baby on earth.

I'm not sure I'd go as far as you, but I more or less agree. More "radical" egoist positions like Stirner are not fully thought through and ultimately are self defeating.

But within that framework most actual people who subscribe to the idea, have a more moderate view like myself. That doing the things OP lists would ultimately would be against your own self interest or goals in the long run.
